I literally couldn’t care less about Virginia public universities but I find it odd that somebody can’t appreciate the beauty of campuses outside of the colonial architecture spectrum.....seems limited.

No connection here other than the fact that I have visited Newport, and Salve Regina is next door to The Breakers and down the road from Rosecliff and other famous mansions along Bellevue Avenue. Do some research before you chime in next time...like how about looking at Google Maps for instance.

Salve's campus is stunning. I brought my DD for a tour there a year ago and was amazed at the beautiful mansions that are part of the school. I will say that we found the interiors to be run down.

The additional mansions are not part of the campus, but in the immediate vicinity of the campus. I posted to counter the other PP who said it was "an upscale residential neighborhood, with one giant mansion at its center." In fact it appears there are several mansions in the neighborhood in addition to the mansion on the campus. I would say that is a bit beyond the typical upscale neighborhood.

No, Marble House, Rosecliff and the Breakers are previously privately-owned estates by the New York 100, now open for tour daily. Salve Regina just happened to be bequeathed one of them.

Architecture Digest has William and Mary 8th and UVA 10th in their most beautiful campus ranking. They are two of the top 3 public schools in the ranking (UCLA is 9th).
