Same Old Lang Syne by Dan Fogelberg
When my mom died I listened to Like a River (Carly Simon), Both Sides Now (Joni Mitchell), and For Good (from the musical, Wicked) on repeat for a full year. Still make me cry. There were other songs when I was younger and regularly experiencing romantic heartbreak. These don't mean as much as I've aged. |
| This Woman’s Work. Reminds me of my mom who passed unexpectedly last year. It also happened to be her favorite song. |
| Desperado. |

This Woman's Work - Maxwell (I know it's not the original but that version is my favorite)
Knockin' on Heaven's Door - Bob Dylan Landslide - Any version Bless the Broken Road - Rascal Flatts A Change is Gonna Come - Same Cooke |
Me too!! And Frozen songs too, sometimes. |
Father of Mine, by Everclear I always think I’m not going to cry “this time”, but then this verse... “I will never be safe I will never be sane I will always be weird inside I will always be lame Now I'm a grown man With a child of my own And I swear I'm not going to let her know All the pain I have known” ...gets me every time. |
If We Were Vampires by Jason Isbell. Just heard it for the first time on the radio - was crying but it is an excellent song. |
| For me, it's many songs off of Siamese Dream by Smashing Pumpkins. But also, You Are My Sunshine. And this thread.. |
I agree that it isn’t sad—it just always makes me tear up. In a good way. |
