Where to? How do you it'll be better?

Changed my work schedule, but I need to take leave to pick up my kid earlier now.

I'll said it on other SACC topics, SACC is rotten, very few actually provide quality after care.

I was really hopeful that the Miserable Mulwani was out of SACC, I have been seeing less of her, but to my disappointment she was there yesterday. The kids at Fort Hunt were all outside, all three SACC had their backs turned to the kids on the playground, teachers standing in a circle talking, not paying attention to the kids at all.

I used to live in this area and sadly had to move to florida, where schools are less stellar than in Fairfax county (which are all pretty good on a national level, even the worst of the Faifax county schools) After reading this i no longer have regrets about leaving such a great school system. i did not even consider how potentially disastrous after care can be. in florida we have different options for each school, like, a local karate or yoga studio will pick up kids in a van when school ends and bring them over there for classes and snacks etc until 6 pm. does this not exist in Virginia? The school after care is the only option?

Yes, we have businesses such as martial arts centers that will transport the students after school.

So why not just find an alternative?

It is a hard job, and no matter where you go there are only 3-4 or us, and sometimes around 60 kids in some cases. We have to take care of the kids, watch them outside, mostly on open playgrounds and fields, make sure everyone is always accounted for, play games on rainy days, deal with discipline, the host of parent personalities, child abuse, bullies, and child conflicts. It is a rewarding job, but you people are bashing us SACC teachers when you have no idea what it is like to
manage that many kids. Take a step back and give us some room. We are there to take care of your kids. I honestly got worn out. It a big job for just a few people
.

My sacc teacher is rude and doesnt care. She DOES work hard but she also is VERY rude

We've been at two SACC centers in five years and I have nothing but good things to say. This is like saying all daycares provide poor care, or all colleges are the same.

SACC is one of the best (or only really) part of our elementary school. It is well run, the teachers are engaged (and care) and my sixth grader balked at being pulled out.

It's weird that someone revived a two year old threat dumping on SACC, but add on that we've had a great SACC experience. My DD's lead SACC teacher is fantastic, as is the rest of the team.
