Why can’t SACC clean house like the school did? I think there comes a point when the teacher loses touch, after 40+ it’s time to retire.

+1

Does this mean +1 like you agree or + 1 like 40+ 1?

I agree, I am wrapping up my family for the night and now reading this.
I work at a SACC in the area, just because some of you got upset cause a teacher hurt your feelings. You go crusade and listen to someone that says they are 1000 miles away. It is a rabble rouser. SACC teachers don’t make this stuff up. I believe this dude called her what she says and probably worse. You people have no idea what have to put up with. I agree with the Marine guy, whaa!

Fake or not, he inspired me to record any interactions I have with SACC staff. This area is too stressful to have riff raff making false racial accusations or calls to CPS and I won't be caught off guard like these others.

I am a concerned mom. Yes I like being able to be on this site with out the FCPS or SACC knowing who I am. Dcurbanmom is a great board.
That being said, for the last poster, how do you record? Your phone? That is a really good idea. I know my daughter acts quiet and sad when she comes home from SACC. I know she loves to color with her friends, and doesn’t like the gym games. My son seems the opposite. He likes SACC and playing the games in he gym and all the music they do with it. I think there is good and bad there.
Recording any conversation is a good idea, THANK YOU!

I am one of the guys that posted about Fort Hunt. I am also going to record all conversations for now on. I didn't even consider this as an option. I talked to my parents just to see if they could offer advice, and they suggested always having someone present during conversations. This is even a better idea. Good suggestion, good post! THANK YOU.

I am moving from CA, and you people scare the hell out of me. It sounds like a lot of mama drama.

I personally just want the best for my children. I don't think meeting the SACC staff before is the best way to judge how well a SACC treats the kids. FFX County is so diverse, and it is an amazingly big county. The schools are also very different across the county. I believe this must reflect in the SACCs, like one of the earlier parents alluded to, it is word of mouth. I would try to contact the parents of the school before outing your kids in. I knew that the school that my children are at right now was rated high for academics, but the SACC was rated very low. I also checked multiple sources, and talked to many parents. When there was a consensus I thought I may have met the middle ground and I was able to choose for my family. I chose KinderCare, they have a bus that drops before and after school. My hours are long, and I just didn't feel comfortable leaving my children in FFX County run SACC at my local school. Good luck, just do your research and make a good choice for your children.

I am moving from Newcastle, United Kingdom. A service member in the American Airforce recommended this board as a way to meet a few friendly parents living in the greater Washington Disctric Area. SACC is a state run Childcare Centre? How is this different from the County? How do I go about picking a school that is best for my buggers? Any information you can provide would be beneficial. There is so much out there to look at it can be overwhelming. Cheers.

We were at Waynewood. It is great, we are about to put a kid in Thomas Jefferson, and another is graduating, getting ready for Texas A&M. Just look around, and TALK TO THE PTA and PARENTS. YES I AM YELLING. We were lucky at Waynewood. Others have terrible stories. Be careful AND ASK AROUND! The PTA is a resource, and is listed on most school sites, and some schools have separate PTA sites. I know, I was one of the very active PTA parents. God Bless and Good luck.

I see why this guy wrote above that he is tired and wants to just give up. It can beat someone down, its a lot to take in especially if you are not a TYPE A personality. Please use your resources, and don't resort to personal attacks. Discussions ladies and gentlemen.
Good Luck and God Bless.

I love Newcastle, not the Soccer Team, but the CITY! I wish we could trade, you can take my house and I'll take yours.
It is geographic. So if you live in the State of Virginia, you will also live in a county. Fairfax County for example (we have no counts) runs all the public schools. I know your system is different.
We have preschool, then Elementary, Middle School and High School. High School is like your Comprehensive School. Each School has a geographic boundary, and students are required to go to the school in the boundary. There is no picking. Now you can pick a school for a special program. For example some schools have foreign language emersion programs. They may be outside of your geographic boundary, so it is a lottery to get into the program. Based on where you find housing, unless you choose to go the private route, that is the area you will have your kids attend.
SACC is Student Age After Care. Run by the county. They have qualified after and before care providers essentially watch your children before and after school to accommodate your work schedule. There are limits, I think it is 6:15PM. There is a charge for being late. Does this help.
Good Luck and God Bless.

I did not know any of this about the Centres nor the counties. I did not know that America has counties.
Thank you for the positive response to my inquiry.

Anyone have any feedback on Franklin Sherman elementary SACC program? New to the school and likely starting next year.
