Again, what do China and Japan have to do with this discussion? Those were not the countries to which Trump was referring. As far as I know, Trump welcomes immigration from China and Japan. He certainly didn't refer to either one as a shithole.

You either get inter-ethnic conflict, or you need authoritarian measures to keep the peace. Either is a pretty dismal scenario.

Those are not the only two possibilities. Switzerland is an example of a country with multiple ethnolinguistic groups that doesn't fit either scenario. The US is attracting the best and the brightest from most of the so-called shitholes. Indeed, until recently, one of Trump's top aids was of Haitian origin. I'm sure she is thrilled to know what Trump thinks about her heritage.

Not only did Trump show his racist and hypocritical nature again (he has hired many Haitian immigrants through visa programs to work at Mar Lago.), he showed himself (again) to be fundamentally stupid. American immigrants have always been in search of a better life than the one they left behind. How does he not get that people with comfortable lives in prosperous countries are not lining up to come here-it’s the people with the fire in their belly who are looking for better educational and economic opportunities.
