Actually, those are pretty common beauty standards in non-western cultures. Even in Africa. That describes Ethiopian beauty to me. And in Asia - symmetrical, large eyes, high cheekbones - commonly found in beautiful women in Japan and China. It's definitely global. |
What about her hair in those pics show unnatural hair? Was it because she straightened it? Do you not remember the outrage she got when she wore in curly? Almost as bad as Barack’s Tan suit! So Melania is allowed to dye her hair and not be considered unnatural but Michelle isn’t allowed to press her hair? I would post picture of Melania without fake lashes and makeup but one does not exist. This is the only one hat I can find without makeup and you can’t even see her. And for those who are saying she only has fillers, that is a joke.

Ugh, those awful cat eyes
Why do people do that to themselves? |
Oh please, exactly what is white or European about symmetry? There have been studies demonstrating that symmetry and certain facial proportions are regarded as “beautiful” across cultures and ethnicities. American bias towards white-Europeans beauty standards is real, but PP’s description of beauty doesn’t reflect that. |
+1. But don't tell that to DC uglies -- they prefer to live in their little hate bubble. |
Actually standards of beauty do change over time and culture. Just look at centuries old portraits of women considered beautiful in their own time. Many times that beauty doesn't translate to today's standards. Heck, just look at some of the movie stars of the 20s and 30s compared to today's movie stars. Very different. And those considered most beautiful today wouldn't necesssarily have been considered beautiful 100 or 200 years ago. Especially since pale white skin was highly valued over tanned faces. Also, thinking about large eyes as a test of beauty -- that would seem to rule out Melania, because she's got kind of strange eyes that don't open very widely. |
He was vice president , in succession to be president after Garfield died. She caught pneumonia in the interim. He was apparently heart broken. I think a niece performed official duties and cared for their children, but he added her portrait to First Ladies to honor her. I don’t know if he remarried. |
| ^^^ every can take a bad picture. She was lovely. Natural. |

like the portraits of the queens, It is so hard to see if they are beautiful with the headpieces and ridiculously elaborate/huge gowns.
That dress with the bustle is freaking hideous. |
