Jacksonville is about 30 miles from the GA border. Thus, great weather. It comes with all the financial benefits of living in FL, but it's not south FL. Yes, the summers are hot, we noticed similar to D.C., with a great ocean breeze.

We chose a community called Nocatee. We drive around in a golf cart to shop, go out to eat, the gym, the pool, friends, etc.

It's gated/guarded and has an amazing lifestyle. Folks here are from all over which keeps it interesting.

We are also 20 minutes from St Augustine, filled with history and great restaurants.

My husband and I are a bit impulsive and are known to just go with our gut with big decisions. We came down to PV and started building a home within 48 hours of being here. Then we went back to MD and kept asking ourselves, what did we just do!?
That was 4 years ago. No regrets. And our kids love coming down here.

To answer that ever looming question, where do we want to live.....we went in blogs, just like you and found this place.

We lived in Julington Creek then later, Nocatee. Such a wonderful community! We are retiring in Ponte Vedra in four years!

My best friend is moving to Florida with DH, no kids. We've known each other since we were in Middle School. I've told my DH we will retire near her or his family overseas. But if kids end up near each other may move. Lose to them (would love that!). So at 59, nice to have options.

We semiretired to FL and love it. We will relocate or get a second home once our youngest has kids.

Huh? JAX is an easy 35 or 40 minute drive from Ponte Vedra Beach. I've made that drive dozens of times.

The problem witk PVB is that people are becoming aware of this gem. Young families with WOH jobs are moving because the schools are great and they can live anywhere. Young retirees are moving in droves. The weather is great and the lifestyle is healthy. Property values are soaring.
As far as JAX airport, it is close but not a hub.
It's a great destination for those who want to escape stress.
