Call to Action: Stop Bannon Appointment

The more ridiculous your demands are, the stronger the wall becomes between you and your new government. Maybe you can hold a bake sale or something to raise money to send safety pins to Trump. Yeah, that'll show those darn republicans that you mean business.

I am OK with fiscal conservatism and social conservatism, you did win, it's your right to govern that way.
But not Neo Nazi please.

I swear on my child, I have a relative in NH who voted for Trump, can't stand Hillary, and SHE told ME about the safety pin thing. I had to Google to see what it was!

Here's a concrete action a friend of a friend proposed: Friends, let's seek a tactical victory this week. Let's try to stop the Bannon appointment. Presidents have had to back down before, for comparatively minor reasons. (Some of us are old enough to remember Zoe Baird and Kimba Wood, Bill Clinton's two AG appointments, who had to withdraw for failing to pay Social Security taxes.) Let's not assume this is a done deal.
Let's do what we can to stop this. I have enclosed a list of actions below. Please feel free to add to this, especially those of you with organizing experience (some of whom I've tagged).

1) If you live in the US, call your Representatives and Senators and tell them this is unacceptable.
2) Paul Ryan is feigning ignorance again. Call his office at (202) 225-3031 and let him know that this is not ok. Same with Majority Leader McConnell, (202) 224-2541.
3) Call out the media when they report the Bannon appointment as a straight news story or refer to him as a "Breitbart executive" or a "provocateur," but don't call him what he is: a white supremacist, anti-semite, misogynist. Don't let them normalize.
4) Where protests are ongoing, make this the focus, with signs, chants, etc. Next week we can turn out attention to other things. But for now let's focus like a laser on this.
5) Let's get religious groups on board; maybe even mainstream business groups, like the Chamber of Commerce (202-659-6000).
6) Contact other people of influence--College presidents, high-profile coaches and anyone else who has a public megaphone.
We can do this. #stopbannon

Thanks for this info! Very important stuff! Anyone know who the best Reps and Senators would be to call in MD, VA and DC to get things done? Not even sure where to begin!

Glad to see this is making the racists so angry! Mobilization is power!

Do your own research. Stephen Bannon is a very impressive man with amazing experience and credentials.

And he is a Navy Veteran.

Georgetown M.A. in National Security Studies.
Harvard MBA
Wall Street
Hollywood
Media
Publishing
Politics

The breadth of his experience is astounding. The man is sharp and he is a workaholic.

He is not "alt-right." He is conservative. His oldest daughter is a West Point graduate, which is also extemely impressive.

I am completely impressed with Trump's picks: Mike Pence, KellyAnne Conway, Rience Preibus and Stephen Bannon. Very impressive line up of people who deserve their appointments because of their long years of hard work for conservative causes.

PP here. I forgot to mention Bannon worked at the Pentagon. He was a top aide there with top clearance. When in navy, he was also out at sea.

His resume especially the military service plus his huge success in the biz world is so much more impressive to me than the "non profit" jobs that are seen all over the resumes of liberals. I am also extremely impressed that his daughter is a west point grad and current officer. This show love of country and patriotism.

Being smart and successful and being a full blown whack job are not mutually exclusive.

None of this negates his sociopathic tendencies. In fact, this is the primary driver of his success.

Good lets keep up the pressure.

Can't rest until Bannon and is totally out.

Yup, it takes about 15 minutes to chat with your two senators and congressman, plus leave a message for Ryan. I'm calling all week. This is totally unacceptable, no matter which side you were on. Hate benefits none of us.

I called Senators Mikulski & Cardin and my own congressman. If they ask you whether you want a response, say that you are going to be watching for the Senator/Congressman to speak out in public.

+1

We have a family friend like this. On paper, VERY accomplished. In reality, a total nut job and creepy (lewd comments to teens). Fortunately he's not involved in politics. The world he pollutes is fairly contained.

This is very important piece we cannot just contact them let them know we are expecting a result. No person wants to lose their seat over this.

Bannon will be out soon. Very soon. He will get eaten alive and won't know how to respond when the press corp and the rest of Washington goes on what he thinks is full attack mode but everyone else thinks is business as usual.

He's a bully. And that means he's a coward.

Is there a line item for degreaser to get the scan off when he leaves?
Anonymous
I'm sure he's very accomplished and smart. He's also a white nationalist and an anti-Semite. You can be conservative, even very conservative, without veering into white nationalist nonsense.

I am in Alexandria. My rep (Beyer) has already come out publicly against Bannon. Kaine's office said he would be making a statement against the appointment in the next day or two and was compiling a list of names and zip codes from callers. But Sen. Warner's office, they were all laissez faire and the staffer was wish wash about whether he would made a statement because there is no senate confirmation. I said it didn't; matter and I expected my Senator to take a public position against this person working in the WH. It was very strange. I was much more impressed with Kaine's staff.
