Do you think it's appropriate to invite a married person to a wedding without their spouse?

Op, are you or the groom from a Muslim background or from another culture? In majority Muslim countries people of the opposite sex do not socialize which would explain op not knowing dh's best friend well and both her and dh not knowing the bride at all. It's also to the advantage of men in patriarchal cultures because this isolates women and leaves them in the dark when the husband cheats or lies, which seems to be the case with her DH.
