| I'm in IT and own a small software company. I make $700-800k/yr and work 35/hrs/week. I structure my work so I am at home with the kids every afternoon. DW is in finance and makes $100k. |
Some non-GS scale agencies pay about that. |
Aren't all gov't agencies on the GS scale? Confused. |
No, the financial agencies (SEC, FDIC, CFTC, Treasury -- maybe others) aren't and they get paid more. That would be towards the high-end (at least at my agency), but definitely possible. |
| Sales and Fed and making around $300K combined in early 30s. When/if spouse in sales gets the next promotion (larger territory) in a couple of years, salary will likely bump up to $300-400K territory. |
| Real Estate sales - this varies, but I should make about 200k this year after expenses. 100k would be a bad year. 250k would be a great year. |
When you say banker; do you work at capital one or something managing large investment loans or some kind of investment banker making trades and over the counter products? |
| Two income household. HHI is $321,00 from salary and investments. Occupations: Foreign Service Officer and Paralegal/Interpreter for a BigLaw firm. |
Me = 50 DW = 45 |
| $280 HHI - both work in PR. |
This is amazing! Kudos to you. Are you a programmer or like a network engineer or something else? |
Largeish commercial bank. Standard business lending/banking. |
Perhaps in some good years, but not consistently year after year. Sort of like being a pro baseball player. |
I'm not a BigLaw partner, but I know many. I think this poster speaketh the truth. |
This are solid middle class professions, goes to show that 300K isn't rich. |
