All true, though I'm not sure it's Sanders choosing to portray it as young staffers run amok. That may be a Weaver/Devine concoction, not Bernie's doing. Read this, though: http://www.politico.com/story/2015/12/sanders-gets-the-fight-he-wanted-216965 I really hope Bernie doesn't make tonight's debate all about his battle with the DNC. That plays to his base but will not help the Democratic Party in the general election. The average voter wants to hear about the issues, not internal party squabbles. |
Anybody think that the reason Sanders regained access to the data is because the DNC did not want to undergo an audit as demanded by Sanders????? |
We have not actually been shown the full audit. The only thing that was presented relating to the audit came directly from the Clinton campaign and ONLY showed Sanders access (including Sanders staffers accessing Sanders' own stuff unrelated to any presumed breach) and given the complete absence of any Clinton staffer transactions it is clearly not the full picture. |
It won’t matter. Nobody will be watching which is what the DNC wants. |
Personally I hope Sanders says screw you to the DNC and runs as an independent. |
It is not a "nothing event" to take data from another campaign, especially if your own campaign has not invested the same time and money in compiling data. Nate Cohn covered this in a long explainer. Sanders himself must disagree with you, since he fired his data director, a high-level staffer. Bernie doesn't have a superPAC himself but he is accepting help from at least two superPACs. Liberal activists have praised Clinton's campaign finance reform plans, Steyer supports her climate and clean energy plans and Elizabeth Warren just declared her support for Hillary's Wall Street reform plans. You should be pleased by all of this, not dismissive, if you really care about these causes. |
Do you have a source for this? It contradicts reporting by a number of news outlets. |
Several Republican elected officials took to Twitter yesterday to say the same thing. |
And anyway, this isn't Bernie's general schtick. He's been focused on the same topics for years... and he'll repeat them again this debate cycle. I'm sure HRC doesn't want to bring it up, either, because it's simply an invitation to demonstrate all the things that have made her an insider and funded by The Big Wigs. I don't think talking about it will do her any favors--or she'll just say, "Let the DNC do it's job and find out what happened. I welcome a fair fight and a fair campaign" bla-di-bla bullshit. |
Although I can't see myself voting Republican while talking about "assholish" candidates on the Republican side, let us not forget HRC who is both an asshole and dishonest to boot. She and DWS are like two peas in a pod. Unfortunately HRC will be the nominee and will likely have pissed off enough Democrats that they will either reluctantly vote for her or decide to just sit out the election. |
The young staffer quote came directly from Weaver, who is Sanders' national campaign manager and would by extension be his presumptive chief of staff if he won. Basically, he is Sanders' mouthpiece and I think we can assume that this statement was cleared with the candidate. |
I know Weaver said it. But he says a lot of stupid things, and I don't like to blame Bernie for them, even though I'm a huge HRC supporter. I think Weaver is out of his depth trying to manage this kind of campaign. |
Yes it would probably be a good thing for the Republicans. But it would also be a strong lesson learned by the DNC. What would be really cool is if both Sanders and Trump ended up running as independents. Now that would be interesting. |
I do care about these causes very, very much. HRC still falls far, far short. I'll let Andy Borowitz do the talking for me: http://www.newyorker.com/humor/borowitz-report/hillary-expected-to-adopt-all-of-sanderss-positions-by-noon |
Andy Borowitz does some good talking about Bernie, too. ![]() I'm sure HRC will never measure up to your standards, but when Elizabeth Warren is praising and sharing her op-ed, she's moving in the direction you want. |
