Sorry to hear that, OP. It was always a risk though.

How do we know this? I'd like to know more about this long term sub. Assuming this is the W.S. class, right?
Anonymous
Pp has incorrect info about the sub.

Which PP? 18:36?

Do you know the LTS?
What makes him or her NOT notoriously bad?
Anonymous
the sub coming for the history teacher is strong. Not sure if long term or short term.
Anonymous
OP here, and that wasn't me posting previously about the sub.

I understand that the school is looking for a long term sub qualified in the subject, and that person is not in the classroom yet.

They are probably going to poach the guy I usually use for short term. Dang it!

Any update, OP?

Both you and the OP of the other thread about incompetent seventh grade SS teachers fell silent.

Did things improve?

Did your DD get a transfer?
Anonymous
Not op but there were no transfers. Teacher comes back in December I think. Anyone have any other info?
Anonymous
OP here. There is a long term sub until early December. The "process" that was begun while the teacher was in the classroom will resume when she returns.

I think it is anyone's guess whether she will be back as scheduled.

I have a kid in middle school in MCPS, and one of her teachers is clearly incompetent. I have spoken to school administration (as have many others) and I gather that some sort of performance improvement plan (if that's the right term in this context) is in place.

Anyone know how this process plays out, and how long it takes? The school seems to be doing what it can with "resource teachers" and other supports for the kids, but I want to know if there is any hope that they can get this teacher out and a new (presumably competent?) teacher in the classroom before too long.

Be the squeaky wheel with the guidance counselor and get your kid moved to another teacher, and don't let up until the change is made. At the same time, ride the teacher so much that she WANTS to get rid of your kid. That should help.

Parents should not only emotional or hanker after teacheres' fame but judge his qulification and availability.

I teach for MCPS. If only it was that easy for a teacher to transfer out a PITA student he or she didn't want to deal with. I've had four members of an extended family one after another (and yes, more are coming). They lie, cheat, and steal. This is at a "W" feeder by the way. Admin is terrified of the patriarch of the family who is not just wealthy, but a bit of a grand poobah back in the Old Country. No change of classes for this tribe no matter how many incidents I document. I keep getting them because I'm more diplomatic than the other grade level teacher of my subject.

Also you will get nowhere with the guidance counselor now--teacher change is an admin decision. Counselor could advocate for kid but it is not in their authority.

A truly incompetent teacher is a blight. We are paying for a private school this year and have one of the most inefficient and stupid women I've ever had the misfortune to meet,as the teacher of our DC.

We itemized her incompetencies and asked the principal if they would move our kid to another class.

No. We get to "work with" the fool for the rest of the year.

If I don't die of a heart attack first.

Why would you pay for that?
