S.Arlington--

Vote for McMenamin. Just read arlnow.com latest board article.

He's the only one with over-crowded schools as his platform ...and how we've lost so much commercial real estate---Marriott the latest to leave.

The other 3 dummies are still running On The tired platform of 'affordable housing' which will just make school problem even worse!!!

I appreciate that he is looking at schools. Its sad that no one else is making this connection. Do people in affordable housing speak up about the schools too?

Like the people living in the AH?
Damn straight they do. There are plenty of single mom's living along the Pike that have made sacrifices to place their child in what they considered better schools. They don't want over crowding either.

N. Arlington --

If you want to not shoulder all the tax burden because of vacant office space,

Vote McMenamin.

The other three are throwing out a bunch of buzz words. McMenamin wants to actually change the current permitting process - that is very discouraging for small business owners.

The parents of south Arlington have some legitimate concerns and problems.
But do go on ladies....

Have you taken away NOTHING from this thread, PP? No one gives a shit about South Arlington schools.

They talk around it, but won't acknowledge that density, and AH have any impact on schools.

Perhaps they should be asked, because it is linked closely to housing. I know many would like to see a solution to both.

Our current chair woman had been asked point blank.

Her response?

Affordable housing and school performance have nothing to do with each other. If you aren't happy with your school - go talk to your principal. That is a school issue, not county board.

No wonder people leave.

Yes. County Board, with the exception of Vihstadt, will push its Affordable Housing agenda and sell out the children of Arlington (especially South Arlington, but really everyone since Housing Fund money could be better spent on school overcrowding). They are poised to do so at the end of next week. Dorsey pays lip service. Cristol is just another Mary Hynes, except worse because she's happy to let schools deteriorate and thinks charter schools are the answer. I'm a lifelong Democrat who plans to vote McMenamin.

Me, too.

It's disturbing how the board is much more focused on having more people live in Arlington(on tax dollars) than it is on having more businesses fill up the open space to create more tax dollars.
