Sounds kind of new money-ish to me. |
| You are Episcopalian. |
Omg, my mom and I had a jumper who was related to Northern Dancer! We called him Ollie, but his show name was ridiculous. |
Yes, I'd agree with this too. |
| They are it of touch as far as money and how other people have to live. |
| Yes, about being out of touch. They rave about some extravagant vacation knowing you are currently unemployed, but are oblivious. |
| I don't know ... I'll report back and tell you when I get there! |
They don't brag on facebook or post telling photos that allude to a fancy trip or money. They post down to earth photos of their children and include nothing "showy". |
The joke I was making is that basically every Thoroughbred in North America is related to both these horses. The three crosses means line bred to them/inbred. Also very common and not necessarily bad if well done because it can concentrate good traits and pass them down more consistently but still, it's a joke about rich people marrying within their ranks. |
| Maybe I should add "making stupid horse breeding jokes that nobody gets" but alas, I am not upper class, just lame. |

They do talk about money. Just not how much they have, but will speculate about others' situations or how someone lost it all in the tech bubble. (No schedenfruade, however.) They believe in budgets and will inculcate their children into that. Very important not to dip into capital. Thrift is a very common attribute.
Do not like talk of personal medical problems except with the very closest family, which often does not include in laws. Ok of course to talk about the ebola epidemic. Religion is discussed but not in the sense of what you or they believe, more at the periphery, and they are often on a first name basis with their priest (skip the "Father" part.) In the UK they swear like longshoremen, but that doesn't seem to be the US way. |
Donald Trump has no class. He has a ton of money, but he's vulgar and crass and loud. He's vile. |
| Some of the men are bounders. But many of those who are not are very anti-unfaithfulness. It wouldn't get in their way of their relationship with a bounder, though. They would just think much less of them. |
Thank you for explaining! |
That takes me back. My mom insisted on buying me a second horse -- because that's what you do, get a thoroughbred to do serious showing -- never mind that I was perfectly happy with my quarter horse who didn't fit in with the hunt seat set. As I was riding him for the first time, I decided I wanted to call him Alex but she insisted he had to have a name fit for the show ring so his official name was Royal Oak. Years later I realized that my grandfather was actually a self-made man and we weren't old money but my mom sure acted as if we were. |
