Kanye West at the Grammy's

I will say the only thing Kanye West had been correct about was Pres. Bush.

ABSOLUTELY

I think Beck deserved to win. I love his album and find it haunting, beautiful, and relaxing all at once. Beyonce is not an artist, she is a performer. And imo, her music and dance is horrid.

Btw, I thought Morning Phase was supposed to be a companion to his last album, not to something coming out next year.

The racism on this thread is breathtaking.

Kanye is a tool but that is because he is a narcissist. Not because he is AA or a "thug". Richard Sherman is right about how this is the new N-word.

Well, now wait a minute. Some people use "thug" to mean "black person I'm afraid of." OK, that's kinda racist. Richard Sherman is not a thug. Kanye is not a thug.

Suge Knight? Thug. Tupac? He coined the term in this context. Had it tattooed on his abs, FFS. Was it just a persona? I don't think so. He was a conspirator to murder. No stranger to gunplay in the streets (note how he died).

People who think, and live, and in fact scream proudly, that violence is a means to an end? Not racist to call them thugs. Sorry.

Yes, but folks are calling Kanye (and other rappers, including 50 Cent) thugs. I find that distasteful. Just cop to it. It's an anonymous board, FFS.

Well, distasteful and breathtaking racism are different things.
Kanye is not a thug. .50 has certainly presented a thug persona, and says he had that past. Is he a thug anymore? Maybe not, but I'm not going to call racism on someone who is swayed by the persona that he held out to the world.

Dre? Judgment call. I wouldn't have called him a thug. But beating up women, and defending it, doesn't put him on the wholesome side of the world. And "Bitches Ain't Shit" doesn't really give him the benefit of the doubt.

There are 7 billion people on this planet for crying out loud. It's absolutely ridiculous to expect all of them to come to a consensus on anything - not about religion not about science not about child-rearing not about food and certainly not about who is/isn't a "thug". Arguing incessantly about who is/isn't a thug is pointless, senseless, and plain old stupid. Leave people to their opinions and live your life - the universe won't collapse nor will the sun go supernova if you can't convince a poster on DCUM to agree with your assessment of Kanye...geezus.

It's not about who is and isn't a thug. It's about crying "breathtaking racism" when you don't agree with someone.
Some things are racist. Some aren't. Give it a rest.

Yes give it a rest. Save for burning a cross on someone's lawn or spray-painting a swastika on someone's house there are very few blatant and obvious behaviors that constitute racism. Most behaviors, including some rapper running off at the mouth about who should/shouldn't have won a friggin Grammy, is debatable and truth be told - it's irrelevant. Who gives a shit?!!! Give it a rest +1.

He is a racist. And he is another glaring example of America's double standard when it comes to black racists:

-Kanye, Al Sharpton, and many others get away with repeated racist statements.

But white people (like owners of sports teams or celebrity chefs) who make even a single offensive remark are savagely attacked on every level - even if they apologize.

I dont even know who Beck is but damn he won. Dont shade his moment. Just because I'm not a fan of his it doesnt make his win any less valid. Beyonce's silence on this issue makes me like her less and less.

Beyoncé is like one of the boy bands..over produced pop music.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z thought it was HYSTERICAL that Kanye went up on stage. Their reaction to it is all over the internet and I agree with PP that her silence on all of this is really speaking volumes.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z are total POS narcissists just like Kanye.
