Crock pot is your friend. Cheesy dip. Easy.
Layered salad. Always a hit and easy. Peanut butter pie. Add I cup peanut butter, one cup confect angry sugar, tub of cool whip. Mix and freeze onto graham cracker pie crust for 3 hours. |
aren't casseroles hot, making them a hotdish? |
jeez, just put them in a bowl of water (cut or uncut) pop them back in the fridge and come back later. They'll be good as new. Carrots are awesome like that. I've saved many a limp carrot with a bowl of water. Or cut them up and dump them in soup. Either way they'll rehydrate. |
| I don't trust a lot of homemade food. What if the person who made it lives in a hoarder home or doesn't practice good food safety? |
| I despise potlucks. If you want to have a party, host a party. I'll bring a bottle of wine and done. |
| I hate potlucks in general. |
Whoever organizes the potluck needs to assign categories by last name, A-F bring main dishes, G-M bring sides, etc. |
Post the recipe, please! |
| OP, when I host a party, I don't ask people to being anything. You should try it. |
| My department at work always does a potluck event in the Fall at someone's house, then a potluck open house in our offices around the holidays. While I'm not militantly anti-potluck, just once I'd like to go to a work event and not be required to bring food. It sends the message that our department is too cheap to host anything for its employees. Nothing to be done, however, because our boss is cheap. |
WTF is a 'hotdish' and what does it have to do with being from the Midwest and why are casseroles preferable when most casseroles are disgusting? |
| Wilted carrot poster - make carrot cake or carrot halwa. |
It was a joke. I used the carrots already. I made juice. |
Bwahahaha, I don't think anyone with functional tastebuds will enjoy most of my home cooking. Which is why I always get something nice and premade from WF or a nice bakery or whatever. This said, I don't get potlucks and tend to avoid them - I am someone who neither enjoys cooking nor is good at it, so the prep part of it is not enjoyable to me, and I am not big on having other people's home-cooked food either. Hanging out with friends is nice, I'd rather just do it in a restaurant or in a catered event. |

I once went to a potluck where people made homemake pizza, cake, and appetizers.
I brought a cake from Costco. No one ate it. And they made fun of me for weeks. I see what type of people you are, DCUM.
These days, my budget and meal planning does not include extra shit. I don't want to take the extra time to go to the store, much less make it. I can't just whip up something wonderful with what I have. Store bought FOREVER. Death to Foo Foo Snobby Potlucks! |
