From the article I read, they were roommates. I remember rooming with people that I didn't know very well. Getting a 2 or 3 bedroom apt and getting roommates to split the cost was pretty standard.

I based my statements on the fact that both of these VA Tech Seniors were only months away from their graduations. The man involved was a recent VA Tech grad. College degree = bright future. One of them had their future stolen away from her, the other two threw their futures away. Sad.
