God I hate cats |
I hated my cats until I visited a family that just got a puppy. GOD DAMN that fucking mutt is annoying. Constantly barking, chewing, nipping, jumping, pissing, shitting. It's like having another kid. No way in hell am I getting a puppy. |
You can tell a friendly cat as a kitten they come to you before others do.
There is no better pet than a social cat. They take less attention than dogs and give love. You can leave them for days and they will be fine. You can go on vacation and have a caretaker spend just a small amount of time changing water / food and emptying litter. The best! |
I want my cats dead I plan their deaths daily. but I keep that thought to myself usually. I have two of them and I am sick to death of this attitude that I need to be loving to an animal that is making my life miserable. When I was growing up if my Granddad had too many cats born in his barn he would take the entire litter and tie them up in a bag and drown them. I know many on this site would judge him harshly for that but it is an animal and on a farm an animal serves a purpose or it is a nuisance that needs to be eliminated. I am sick to death of animal rights people judging others for the way they deal with a nuisance and a problem in their lives. It is an animal and while I am against being cruel to any living creature, sitting in judgement over someone that chooses to put down an animal that is causing them distress is cruel and torturous in itself. We have dominion over the animals and you people being all righteous over someone who only desires peace is just plain stupid. Randall Randall, Your grandfather should have spayed or neutered the cats so they did not breed. Your grandfather was ( if dead) a horrible human being and I wish we could put him in a sack and drown him. I would just say he outlived his useage ( his words) and needs to be put down because he no longer has a purpose in life. Good grief. |
I hated and loved my incontinent cat for the entire fourteen years we had him, until his death at age 16.
But he was ours, and when we took that responsiblity, we took it. Getting rid of eight year old cats is unreasonably cruel. I don't know how you could live with yourself. |
God I hate cats
Then don't get one. Simple. |
+1 Randall, I fail to understand how citing the behavior of a disgustingly cruel person like your grandfather can function to persuade anybody to come around to your point of view? All you've done is invalidate yourself (and disgust a lot of people). |
We too have cats that poop everywhere. Wish we hadn't listened to someone's advice to get a "friend" for the first anxious cat. Cat Prozac didn't work, so for a while the cats were doing the equivalent of cat Valium, which comes in chicken or liver flavors and had to be delivered in frozen packages.
I don't have time to read the whole thread, soI don't know if this has been addressed.... But letting your cats outside is NOT the answer. Cats kill hundreds of millions to a billion songbirds every year (depending on the estimate), especially right now when fledglings are on the ground. Cats have been directly linked to putting numerous species of birds at risk. Also, outdoor cats have shorter lifespans, because they get hit by cars, get into fights, and get diseases including toxoplasmosis which can affect you and your family. The head of the Smithsonian's migratory bird center is coming out with a book on all this in a few months. |
I've cat sat before and it does take time to scoop the litter box, change the litter/clean box, sweep up the kicked out litter, feed/water them. The dander, fur does get on things and needs to be cleaned/vacuumed up. Plus if they scratch furniture or climb up on counters/dressers, etc and knock things off or spit up on the carpet...more to do. But that is part of having a pet. And you do these things because you love them and they are worth the trouble. I can't imagine having a pet for 8 years and wanting to give it up like that, not feeling attached. But I'm also not in the Op's shoes. |
My cat is 21 years old. She is a certified old fogey. I love her but she seems most unhappy, likely because she can't jump and play like she used to. I have kids that adore her, but she is just grumpy and tired. I'm also tired and don't spend enough time hanging out with her these days, though I guess I feel like my kids compensate. She doesn't care so much about grooming anymore and has started tracking litter everywhere. I wonder how long she will stick around. My kids will be devastated when she dies, but I am never getting another pet. |
I hate what cats do to your sleep. Yesterday we spent almost the entire day working on the house. |
Sorry, hot return too soon. I was exhausted and went to sleep at 10:30. And the cat came into the bedroom at 11:30 and meowed in my face. Couldn't get back to sleep for two hours. |
A billion birds are taken down by house cats? A BILLION? Really? |
We have an 18 yr old feral cat that lives in our basement, more like our laundry room. I've had her since she was a kitten and has never been friendly. She screams when the dogs eat her food, so I always know when she's out of food. I don't have many feelings for her, but yet, she's with us until she dies. I could never live with myself if I had her put to sleep or dropped her off at the shelter. |
Maybe even 3 billion: https://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/outdoor-cats-kill-between-14-billion-and-37-billion-birds-a-year-study-says/2013/01/31/2504f744-6bbe-11e2-ada0-5ca5fa7ebe79_story.html The average pet cat kills 34 birds a year. Each feral cat kills 23-46 birds a year. Multiply by the respective populations. |
