I feel bad, but I really want to get rid of our cats

Free long haired calico, pukes often, sheds much, whines loudly. Cats suck.

PP You sound like a peach. Why did you get a cat if you hate them so? That is on you, my friend.

Feed the poor thing better food (wellness wet food, try chicken). The puking will stop.

Okay with her - less whining.

So sad.

Cat Prozac didn't work, so for a while the cats were doing the equivalent of cat Valium, which comes in chicken or liver flavors and had to be delivered in frozen packages.

I don't have time to read the whole thread, soI don't know if this has been addressed....

But letting your cats outside is NOT the answer. Cats kill hundreds of millions to a billion songbirds every year (depending on the estimate), especially right now when fledglings are on the ground. Cats have been directly linked to putting numerous species of birds at risk. Also, outdoor cats have shorter lifespans, because they get hit by cars, get into fights, and get diseases including toxoplasmosis which can affect you and your family. The head of the Smithsonian's migratory bird center is coming out with a book on all this in a few months.

A billion birds are taken down by house cats? A BILLION? Really?

Most of the birds are taken down by things like office buildings, and cars- i.e.: HUMANS.

Wrong. Windows take down a lot of birds, but cats take down many more. The data, from various researchers, is very clear. You can google it and see bar graphs. You should get this book when it comes out this fall: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0691167419/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1469198108&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=peter+marra&dpPl=1&dpID=51r1gIy-SOL&ref=plSrch. He's a Smithsonian scientist and he knows from both windows and cats.

Here's one of the available resources showing cats are a bigger driver of bird decline than windows:

Fledglings on the ground right now are particularly vulnerable.

NP. My (indoor) cat gets great raw food from Big Bad Woof. And he loves it, so he eats it so fast he pukes all the time.

Sorry your cat is annoying to you when he's inside with you. But he needs to stay inside. My cats stopped bothering us to go outside after a month or two. Now they never ask.

But what the heck kind of cats do you have? I've had cats my whole life and hours per week on cat care is WAAAY too much.

Did you get long hair cats? Or some sort of super high maintenance cat? How big is your house?

In all seriousness, I cannot imagine spending this much time on a cat. Something is wrong with this picture.

OmG!!!! this is hilarious!!!I'm almost pee myself

I have 2 cats and I am really contemplating giving them to the animal welfare league. they are not horrible but they just starting to become a chore plus I have a small Dog.. The Feeding and cleaning is really becoming too much. and now that I have moved I dread one of them being locked in a room and destroy carpet as they have done to all 3 of the bedrooms. We leave out the room not knowing they are in there and when we get home or come back the carpet under the door is shredded to smitherines. We moved to a new area and one of the cats are constantly being tormented by the other cats in the area. I hear her screaming and meowing very very loud so I come running out the house to help her. I love my girl cat Twilight but her son baby cat is becoming too much... He sits in front of my room and meow sooooo loud at 5am- I really have grown attached to them but its annoying. jumping on counters eating stuff off the stove. Knocking stuff down.
