Chances are their kids and they themselves are unhealthy. But they are annoyed that other people care about healthy food because it exposes the BS behind their approach.

YUP! the irony is this thread started with someone caring enough to raise it to ask what action could be done and decided to do the actions that were suggested by those who showed care at the start of the thread. Caring is usually what leads to action.

Have you brought this up to the actual school or do you really think complaining anonymously online constitutes meaningful action?

I chose one of the schools whose food choices aligned with what I was comfortable with and suggested OP speak with their admin. That’s already been covered upthread.

You realize this is not a new battle. They’ve heard it all.

This whole topic is tired. Bring your own snacks or accept the complimentary option. There is nothing else to say. These are just small portions of snacks.

Complaining about complimentary snacks just makes you sound entitled and obnoxious. And every single school will absolutely allow you to bring in your own snacks you just may have to get them pre approved. Some policy is not an excuse for you to keep complaining.

I mean according to Meriwether (all the schools named use Meriwether) they rely heavily on feedback from families when choosing frequency and changes to menu offerings. Given the difference in execution and Menu offerings of the schools, I believe that to be true. Therefore, if a parent is unhappy with the current offerings at their school, it does make sense to provide feedback.

What are you gonna question next? Bananas? Yogurt? Berries? Nuts? Cheese?

Is the toddlers sustain on berries and cheese a fairytale to you?

the average toddler is not eating a carrot stick as a snack - some may but many do not. A school snack has to cater to the many. also actually yes they do lose that as they get older - palates change - as 1 year olds, my kids loved veggies. As they got older, they did not.

I’d be fine with yogurt and berries, but are you cool with go-gurts or flavored yogurts? Because I’m not sure that’s significantly better than goldfish. I am legitimately wondering if people consider cheese healthy now based on these responses.

Meriwether makes their yogurts in house adding only fresh fruit to sweeten soooo yes.

I would honestly love to bring our own snacks. The whole point is these schools DO NOT allow you to bring your own snacks.

Why do you keep calling them "complimentary"? They are not free. The families pay for the snacks.

Based on the contract there is no requirement for the school to provide snacks. Read it yourself.

They will allow it if you ask in the right way. Yes, you can bring snacks.

Is “ask in the right way” code for “make up an allergy”?

Yup 🤣 a gluten allergy. But you still have to deal with your child believing 2x's a day packaged snacks is the norm and they are left out...

Are you saying you don’t have a compelling reason why little Olivia can’t eat the Doritos and you would have to lie?

Are you saying parents at expensive private schools don’t lie to get what they want?

Given the overall attitude and operation of the system, it is really a change for all or yes you have to make up a lie.

Yet the reason people won’t is because their kids want the snacks and don’t want to feel singled out. So they are trying to go around it and upset the apple cart which has a low probability of success.
