We’re double ivy legacy (one of us 2x) w/ further legacy also at trinity, exeter, and spence. our interview at dalton wasn’t with the head of admissions, nor were we asked any questions about our schooling. I really wish people would stop spreading nonsense rumors and pretending like they have insider information or know something that others don’t. It’s just exhausting how much credit people give to admissions officers. |
I guarantee you there are plenty of kids who got into Regis due to connections and politics. Including Regis legacies. This holier than thou attitude is insulting. It is basically like college - unhooked, upper middle class white kids have less of a chance of getting in. |
You obviously know nothing about Regis. It’s a very middle class school with a ton of kids commuting in from the outer boroughs and suburbs. I don’t think you can really game Regis admissions. |
lol, the naïveté is astounding. The amount of corruption in the churches is off the charts, the notion a highly competitive HS is immune is preposterous. |
This! I wasn’t asked in any parent interview where I went to school or where my husband went to school. But I know they know because we fill that info out on the application. FWIW I have my Masters (not Ivy) and I’m a transplant, and my husband is an immigrant. Our child will attend K in one of the B/C/S schools this Fall. |
i dont understand why this group keeps refusing to believe what every piece of data is telling us - that riverdale is the best one. |

B/S and eventually Dalton will be better than Riverdale if you give more weight to HYP than to other T20.
However, once you look at HYP admission stats, you quickly conclude that unless you know % of legacies in each school, you cannot really draw conclusions from HYP college placements. For instance, these are the latest numbers available for Harvard and you can see legacies represent a sizable % in the admissions pool. There is no indication things have changed since 2023: https://features.thecrimson.com/2023/freshman-survey/makeup/ |
B/C/S is not equal to B/S. HYP matriculations in Chapin are lower than in either Brearley or Spence. |
Brearley blows Riverdale out of the water. And Spence often does as well. |
Brearley girls blow Riverdale boys? Really? |
| I couldn’t figure our out a way in which choosing a particular school for my kid would put me in a position to donate 15 mil to my university of choice or suddenly turn us into a FGLI URM family, so kinda went by the vibe instead. |
you have to have all As in middle school and make the HSPT cut. But then I'm sure there's wiggle room. Although lots of siblings and legacy kids dont get in. most don't |
| Dalton has 10 to harvard. many hooked but still. not all posted yet |
lol, that’s what we’re doing too. |
Are you a current parent? |
