I didn't see any research in the original X post. Just your standard witch hunting.

In addition to fighting the data centers not yet built with zoning changes, I would suggest that each of us minimize our use of AI and reject these tools where we can. You can start by changing your browser. It is very hard to disable AI when you do a search in some and it just happens automatically unless you are constantly going to disable it again. Safari, Google I'm looking at you. I've been using Duck, Duck Go instead.

I don’t get why people are mad at data centers. It seems maybe a little better than a Dick’s Sporting Goods or whatever.

That’s not AI that’s LLM.

I don't know, perhaps get more informed and educated. It's not that hard.

Opposing data centers is definitely the height of aimless Nimbyism. I mean, do something valuable with your time. Save a life. Help a kid.

Saying dumb stuff like this is definitely the height of ignorance. No, I dont want something in my backyard that is going to negatively affect my environment (water, noise pollution, temperature around it, cost of electricity, the list goes on). If you took the time to get educated, you'd sound a whole lot less idiotic.

We're educated. That's why we don't fall into your selfish nimbyism.

Not sure Ashburn is an exurb and if it was, why would this matter? People live in these places, and their lives are no less important than yours.

I really don’t want them built anywhere because they are a huge resource suck no matter where they are built and they are ruining peoples’ way of life (and probably all of our livelihoods).

I am lucky I live in Fairfax county where it is already very filled in and there are no data centers very close to my house, though it looks like they are building one across from my kid’s school. Hopefully our county government doesn’t get any big ideas and start selling park land.

Ashburn has a population of 50,000. We need to build data centers. Should we build one in the middle of Ballston?

Who is “we”?

The "US?" We can't have an economy based on McDonald's dishwashers.

McD's doesn't have dishes. Also, AI can't wash dishes anyway, so that is exactly what you are advocating for.
