Trump’s immigration policies were the very core of his campaign platform - from “Build the Wall” back in 2015 all the way to today. He was repeatedly elected to the presidency, winning even the popular vote in 2024. No amount of fake poles and media gaslighting changes that fact. Nobody believes it. Americans elected Trump because of immigration. |
It’s not profitable for the taxpayers who are paying for the detainment more than what would’ve been paid if an undocumented immigrant were actually free and working (contributing to the economy). Let’s say an undocumented did receive all the works (food stamps, section 8, cash assistance, Medicaid). That’s still less in taxpayer money than the cost of being in custody. |
The countries took them back under Obama because he didn’t insult nations as s-holes and act like a jackass. Obama was very strict about border security and deportation to the point that border crossings hit a record low during his administration. I don’t know why Hillary didn’t make a case that illegal immigration and the border wasn’t an issue in 2016. Where the Dems messed up is Biden and Kamala decided to reverse the Obama admin policy and actually welcome migrants to the border. This was unprecedented. I think Biden and Kamala even traveled to the border and said America is open to anyone who wants to cross in. This was idiotic for the Dems to do and as we saw right after the huge wave of migrants decimated Democrat cities and led to Mayor Eric Adams turning on the Biden administration then facing fed investigation immediately after. It became a mess. Trump was able to win because of it |
You’re confusing past and present. |
That record has been crushed by Trump. |
Yep. 89 million people didn’t vote so here we are |
No it hasn’t. Obama deported more by a long shot and he did it without the chaos |
Border crossings. Reading comprehension? |
Pres. Bill Clinton welcomed a lot of illegal immigration. I don't know the numbers, but the PR was not anti-migrant. |
So did Ronald Reagan. What your point? Immigration to this country is great. It’s what built this country. |
Stop posting lies. Trump won because people believed the lies the Republicans were telling, just like the ones you posted. "In June 2021, while visiting Guatemala, Vice President Kamala Harris directly told potential migrants, "Do not come. Do not come. The United States will continue to enforce our laws and secure our borders. ... If you come to our border, you will be turned back". " "President Biden similarly stated in an interview with ABC News in March 2021, "I can say quite clearly don't come over," and "Don't leave your town or city or community."" "The administration has consistently stated, both in rhetoric and policy, that they encourage legal immigration and advise against illegal border crossings." "Biden returned to or strengthened Obama-era enforcement priorities." |
Slavery built the country too. Are you advocating for that? |
This. I don’t think the Republican leadership, wants a war. I do think they want to provoke an excuse to justify an authoritarian crackdown. DO NOT GIVE THEM ONE. The average Republican voter certainly isn’t looking for war, they basically just want to live their own life in peace. They most likely are sincere in wanting what’s best for individual Americans and the country as a whole, but disagree with Democrats on what that may be. They want to get along with their fellow Americans, but if their media bubble shows them that Democrats are a rabid mob, they may think that a government crackdown is needed for everyone’s safety. We need to protest PEACEFULLY, but at this point, we need to go further and make a point of trying to lower tension. The first priority is to try to keep everyone safe and hopefully avoid future tragedies. While as Americans, protesting is a fundamental right which we should be able to exercise safely, when tensions are high and people have to make split-second decisions, the stress may compromise their judgement. Moreover, if someone has an agenda (whether personally or officially), they may try to manipulate events and will likely seize any excuse to justify their actions. When my grandfather was teaching me to drive, he told me that if another driver was being stupid, I should yield even if I was right and they were wrong. I’ll never forget him saying, “You may be right, but you’ll be dead right.”. The worst thing for America is to allow this to devolve into war, which is a loss for everyone. If we are going to defeat tyranny, it will be through winning over the majority of Republican voters. We are in a campaign for hearts and minds. Show them that we are fellow patriots who seek peace and justice, much like themselves. Both politically and personally, we need to connect more with them and find common ground. Reach out collaboratively, not confrontationally, to neighbors and show them (and yourselves) how truly alike we actually are. Build personal bonds in the community beyond politics. Politically, listen to what they say without condemning them as stupid and/or evil. Have the humility to consider that most complex issues have a lot of grey, and that since no human is omniscient, there is a likelihood that on some point of disagreement, they may even have something we can learn from. We can show them that Democrats aren’t the Boogeyman, but we need to accept that they aren’t either. When Republicans join us and start pestering their representatives and voting them out of office, this national nightmare will finally end. I remain convinced that a lot of this originates with foreign actors seeking to harm our country and the more we fight amongst ourselves, the more we’re fighting on their behalf. |
How do we even know what the crossing numbers are today? |
So why were border crossings so astronomically high under Biden? He said he didn’t have the power to stem the flow, until he did, as the election approached. |
