Everyone has made a good point on here. Andrew on the video made a good point that congress needs to act in their power. Now. Not later. This isn’t as great an issue as other political questions on this forum. But it’s a straight up symbol of power to pay a construction crew using govt money to alter a building.
AND as I read, it may not even have changed its official name. Really. The name change may not have occurred. He’s just altering it and naming it without any authority.

I feel bad for the performers, but Trump and Kennedy Center leadership claim funding is WAY UP, so hopefully the performers are getting paid? Unless, of course, funding is not up to- or they are not using the funding to actually pay for the arts.

The name is the John F. Kennedy MEMORIAL center so doesn't this mean that trump has to be dead before his name is added? If this is the case then I am in favor of adding his name!

The arts cannot be “made friendly” to stunted conservative sensibilities and tastes without destroying the purpose of the arts.

The arts are about expanding the mind, making us more human by expanding our horizons, taking us to places and feelings and perspectives that might be uncomfortable. Technical proficiency is important, but not enough. Performers perform, artists communicate. Even the symphonies and forms we consider classics today were revolutionary in their day. They did something new and ticked someone off.

Conservatives want “art” that makes them feel good, which means it can’t go deeper than a puddle and can’t challenge anything they hold sacred about themselves. That’s not art. It’s a recital or a performance, and a boring one at that.

Look at the art being made for conservatives - it’s almost entirely surface level, poorly executed, biblical stories or propaganda. It does nothing to advance the culture, it’s just poorly done entertainment. Is that crap worthy of our national performing arts hall? No. Half the time it isn’t even worthy of the megaplex.

But in the interest of being charitable and not a snob, I’d recommend conservatives check out local MS and HS performing arts. They have bowdlerized versions of Broadway musicals, the boys aren’t usually “out” yet, and sometimes you can catch a really good technical performance not yet informed by real life experience. These young performers really deserve our support.

He did, but I am still perplexed by how it (and other things, like tearing down the West Wing) just happens because he says it should. How does the name change get paid for? How do does the website just get changed on his whim? Who purchased the sign, contracted for it to be put in place, etc?
