I loved “Life of Beth” so good! So sweet!

Like her - she’s an open book. Recently divorced - maybe she felt she should try a new look.

Her instagram has old photos. I didn’t see weirdness.

It's super clear that she's currently enchanted with herself for having taken off some weight she didn't like. OK cool. But she's obviously not exercising or working out along with the WL. She's just becoming what I've always heard referred to as skinny fat. There's no definition anywhere.

And her face hasn't changed at all ... 50/50 she decides to get that buccal fat removal surgery and just starts ruining herself.

I literally thought she was so much cuter before all this injection madness started, she still always looked fresh and her personality showed through. Now she's just starting to look more aged than she should be and potentially robbing herself of all the character she used to have.

Kind of reminds me of how Brittany Murphy had so much personality before she lost so much weight and went blonde, and just became this non-descript paper waif with none of the same individual screen charisma she'd had before.

And when Anna Nicole lost all that weight. She definitely wasn't fantastic at her heaviest, but when she trim spa'd down to that low weight it also didn't seem to do her any favors. See also Oprah dragging the meat wagon on stage, and when Elizabeth Taylor lost a ton of weight in the 80s.

Making your body skinnier doesn't always make it better.

I tend to agree with you, but I can’t imagine being in this industry 25 years like Amy and what it does to you. I think it’s why so many celebrity women go literally insane with their looks to the point where most of them look terrible. Even the young ones get bad work done. It’s abysmal.

I agree with the other poster who essentially said the bikini pics are a red flag.

Imho normal people don’t seek this much attention, and they certainly don’t post bikini pics. It’s not even like they are vacation pics on a beach. She obviously took a series of pics in various swimsuits in rapid succession indoors and posted them. Not normal for anyone—even a Kardashian posts bikini pics in pools or beaches, not their living room.

Right, but she’s still very much in the industry. She does mainstream movies that do well. For train wreck she had to lose weight. She said it was tough, but she did it to do that cheer cheerleading scene.

Arguing she’s not in the entertainment industry because she’s a comedian is weird and doesn’t make any sense. Nicky Glaser doesn’t even do movies. She’s just a comedian and she talks about all the things she has to do to look good. All of the stuff that she does with her hair and hair extensions, she’s constantly showing off her legs because that is her best asset, and she’s copped to plastic surgery. Anytime you are getting up in front of audience in the same age,your looks are important.

many celebrities in the industry eventually succumb to some sort of craziness around their bodies and looks. Look at what Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper are doing too their faces and they are men. It’s even worse for women.

What are you prattling on about? Who is arguing she’s not in the industry?

The point is that she is not in the same industry as the Kardashians whose brand is using sex trap pics to remain relevant and sell products. Schumer is a comedian/actress. She has an actual talent/skill that serves as the basis of her Hollywood career. She is not a sex symbol, so it is very, very weird to try on a handful of bikinis and post pics from inside her house wearing them. She could have gotten away with one or two bikini pics on a beach/by a pool on vacation, but this was just beyond.

I did this a few years ago. I lost a whole bunch of weight and after a lifetime of not wanting people to take photos of me, suddenly I was taking selfies and standing inside my 6x pants holding them out being half my size.

But, the thing is, no one really cares by the time you reach a certain age.

Delta Burke, Elizabeth Taylor, Roseanne Barr. Your marketability is your youth.

You can be up and down, but Judy Garland even when she was “chubby” was not the same as when she was thinner later.

The only celebrity I know of who managed to lose a bunch of weight and keep her audience and not lose any fans is Dolly Parton, because she never once threw her body transformation in people’s faces … like, say, on People magazine. She never tried to reinvent herself. She just said some stuff like, “it was the hardest thing I ever had to do, I had to learn to always leave some food on the plate for the angels” and didn’t go into any diatribes about fitness and food and how she “knew the way” and she never marketed anything as some personal fitness product. (Beyond Dollywood, I guess.)

This seems a little bit dated. Not sure Elizabeth Taylor or Delta Burke‘s career arc is one people are really looking to in 2026. There’s a lot more women over 40 and even 50 on the scene now.

I don’t think Amy has to worry about losing her audience or gaining a new one at this point in her career. She seems pretty set in terms of an audience regardless of her weight.

It also doesn’t seem like she’s trying to rebrand herself. She’s just showing off her weight loss, but if you go on Instagram, there’s still pictures of her looking decidedly un glam and I doubt she’s going to stop being real in her comedy or portraying relatable messy women in her acting roles.
