I wish her well.

Her stand up comedy isn't really my thing, but she seems like a nice person.

I'm also sad about it, in part because she actually seems like a pretty down to earth person and their relationship seemed relatable and realistic to me (I am also married to someone on the spectrum and have specifically struggled with that tendency for him to have no response when I am in need of support). And the fact that their kid is early elementary age and likely also on the spectrum makes me sad in general. But at least it seems like they are totally amicable and will be co-parenting and working it out. They have plenty of money, that should help.

It at least seems less dysfunctional and resentment-laden than when Ali Wong got divorced. Wishing her a truly amicable situation where they both move forward in positive ways.

There is nothing to suggest their child is autistic

It's been awhile and she hasn't confirmed anything but she has spoken extensively about the fact she believes it is likely. And is ok with that.

A nice person doesn’t name her child something that sounds like genital fissure.

Gene Atell Fischer

Come on.

She confirmed it a few years back.

When people intentionally base their careers around their weight being part of the familiar character that people recognize, absolutely, it feels like 50/50 whether a major physical transformation will work. Al Roker still doesn’t totally feel the same to me. Kelly Osbourne looks unrecognizable.

Rebel Wilson based ALL her characters on being heavier.

I’m not sure how it would work to have a 110lb Amy Schumer, or lower.

At some point there’s that moment like that one Biggest Loser contestant who came out looking like she was going to die and everyone was so shocked people couldn’t even remember to clap and cheer even when prompted to. There were just gasps.

Life of Beth is her best work and not about weight, or super funny physical comedy. It was just a solid series and very touching.

Did she? It was strange. I thought she said she just assumed he would be when he was 2, but she claimed it cannot be diagnosed until around 6, which is false unless the case is really mild.

+1 it was personal but not self deprecating, and managed to be funny without being sarcastic or mean. Really mature, reminded me of the show Better Things that Pamela Adlon did a while back.

Her husband has ASD that was diagnosed when he was an adult. What would have been called Aspergers previously. Kids with this kind of ASD diagnosis (which you might consider mild but which can have significant impacts on executive functioning and especially sociability) are very unlikely to be diagnosed at 2. It would be most likely that her son would inherit a similar form of ASD, so this makes perfect sense.

I only look at Instagram like 2-3x a week just to scroll for maybe 5-10 minutes, and I don't really post or participate - just follow - but I just looked at Amy's current post ...

... and I don't think she's headed down a good road

It's super clear that she's currently enchanted with herself for having taken off some weight she didn't like. OK cool. But she's obviously not exercising or working out along with the WL. She's just becoming what I've always heard referred to as skinny fat. There's no definition anywhere.

And her face hasn't changed at all ... 50/50 she decides to get that buccal fat removal surgery and just starts ruining herself.

I literally thought she was so much cuter before all this injection madness started, she still always looked fresh and her personality showed through. Now she's just starting to look more aged than she should be and potentially robbing herself of all the character she used to have.

Kind of reminds me of how Brittany Murphy had so much personality before she lost so much weight and went blonde, and just became this non-descript paper waif with none of the same individual screen charisma she'd had before.

And when Anna Nicole lost all that weight. She definitely wasn't fantastic at her heaviest, but when she trim spa'd down to that low weight it also didn't seem to do her any favors. See also Oprah dragging the meat wagon on stage, and when Elizabeth Taylor lost a ton of weight in the 80s.

Making your body skinnier doesn't always make it better.

NP. I agreee Gene is a horrible name. If they wanted to name him after someone whose name started with G, there's Gabriel, Gideon, Graham, Griffin, Grant, etc.

I tend to agree with you, but I can’t imagine being in this industry 25 years like Amy and what it does to you. I think it’s why so many celebrity women go literally insane with their looks to the point where most of them look terrible. Even the young ones get bad work done. It’s abysmal.

Okay…but she’s supposed to be a comedian—or a comedic actress—not a Kardashian.

I agree with the other poster who essentially said the bikini pics are a red flag.

Imho normal people don’t seek this much attention, and they certainly don’t post bikini pics. It’s not even like they are vacation pics on a beach. She obviously took a series of pics in various swimsuits in rapid succession indoors and posted them. Not normal for anyone—even a Kardashian posts bikini pics in pools or beaches, not their living room.

I think she’s gone off the deep end.
