Why do some private sector workers hate Fed workers so much?

We’re in the field and some of our neighbors resent our healthcare. They think we’re out of touch because we haven’t had to deal with high deductible insurance yet.

Americans have such a bootlicking, race to the bottom mentality sometimes. It is very depressing!

Agree, although sadly this has become the democrats’ playbook. It’s known as “identity politics” and it works by dividing Americans into identities. For example, they demand to know:

- what class are you?
- what income bracket are you?
- what race are you? (BIPOC or white? Or maybe “white-Latino” or “LatinX”?)
- which one of the 56 genders are you?
- which of the two colors is your home-state?
- what are your pronouns? (mine are )
- are you normal, or religious? (which religion are you?)

So tired of the constant divisiveness from the democrats. It’s exhausting.

Who is "demanding" this of you? Please give one example.

The thing that exhausts me is the constant imaginary grievances.

Um - I am guessing you don’t have children and have never had to fill out a form over the last 40 years.

As you can tell from this thread, it’s mostly due to jealousy, wanting what others have — job security, more humane working hours.

Let me introduce you to a magical, magical option:

_Prefer not to respond

Unless of course merely *asking* you demographic questions is so offensive and so onerous that you would throw our entire democracy in the trash because of it. Good job, guy! Enjoy living in Egypt, but with no demographic questions.

I don’t hate feds at all, but this right here is why people don’t. You’re whining about job security. Welcome to real life where nobody in the private sector has guaranteed job security.

So, here’s the thing with federal jobs, my dear— feds are not compensated the way those in the private sector are. Their salaries are determined by a set schedule. You don’t get a fat raise just for having a pretty face and a daddy on the board (unless daddy is in Congress, I get it). You have to apply for the promotion. In return, they are offered job security. Same for your local public school teacher or cop. A cop can make questionable choices, even hurt someone, and it would still take a lot to fire them. Do you complain about their protections and job security? How about crappy teachers who are still at your kid’s school 10 years later? Everyone knows Mrs. Larla sucks and should be fired, but alas, she’s still there even with one foot in the grave and refuses to retire. Have a problem with that?

You’re surrounded by people who don’t earn six figures but still have secure jobs.

You’re using crappy teachers and killer cops as examples of why government workers deserve the job security they have? How dumb are you?

And that’s why all these losers are so gleeful!

Yeah, it’s probably jealousy. I think I am jealous that all of you have this unpaid vacation. Sure some of you have to work so life March is on but lots of you have this gift of paid time off.

My earned income averages $30k since 1996. Between no raises and wage theft, I still managed to retire years before 50.
Don't complain about money. Concentrate on making it last once you take it home. I doubt the pay is minimum wage.

What do you mean by “wage theft” ??

They watch YouTube all day and eat Doritos while “working” from home. They do errands, shop online, take a nap, walk the dog…it’s bullshit.

What? Who? Teleworkers? Remote workers? You can’t be referring to Feds bc hardly any allow telework or remote workers any more.

But I know you are trolling. Get a life.

People have had to fill out demographic information regarding race/sex for decades now and most forms I see still list M/F. Occasionally there is an option for other but you have the remarkable freedom to not check it. Also a lot of times forms asking for identifiers are optional and anonymous.

The only time I’m asked about class (I assume you mean HHI) is if I’m applying for something that is sliding scale (e.g. one of my kids got subsidized speech therapy when I was making less than half of what I made now). Nobody asks me about that today. Who is demanding your pronouns? Your religion? The color of your home state?

I have 3 kids and fill out forms all the time and no one is asking, let alone demanding this information (especially not on any routine basis).

Something like 75% of us are still working and the remaining 25% are unable to file for unemployment in many states and now have to worry they will never get backpay. Or that they will be RIF’d.

Yay! What a vacation.

How dumb are you to go after the people who ensure your elderly mom gets her Medicare and SS checks.
