You can't even get Americans to do $300k/year jobs.

That's total BS.

Oh, you're right:

Des Moines School Board Chair Jackie Norris told reporters Monday that Roberts had been shortlisted by headhunters who conducted a criminal-background check. “There was nothing in the information that was given to us to allude to any question about his citizenship,” Norris said.

Norris previously served as White House chief of staff to first lady Michelle Obama, according to the school board website.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/iowa-superintendent-resigns-after-ice-arrest/ar-AA1NCkAK?ocid=BingNewsSerp

I know Jackie and she is telling the truth. I haven’t talked to her in a decade, but I know her from Lafayette and she’s a very upstanding person who is civic minded to the core. Her husband John ran for governor. They run their family with a military precision, her two oldest are in academies. She isn’t sloppy.

She was sloppy with this situation. Lots of red flags but they still hired him. And she has the audacity to tell the public to practice “radical empathy.” Another example of democrats favoring illegal aliens over citizens.
The board apparently knew he did not have his doctorate before they hired him but hired him anyway. Then, continued to refer to him as “Dr. Roberts.” They lied to the citizens of Des Moines.

How can you believe this? Can you tell me what the red flags were in his file? Can you tell me who he was running against, i.e. who else was on the shortlist.

He sounds like a conman just like Trump. It happens, right?

They conducted the search in secret.

Red flags:

1. Him not having a doctorate but claiming he did and the boars knew it.

2. Settlements that occurred in other districts he left.

Those are outlined in the article in this post:

No, you don’t get to post red flags by some rando blogger. It says in the article, he was here legally when hired. We’re done here. Nothing will convince you. Ironic though since you were also hoodwinked by a charlatan.

I can’t imagine a post that turned out to be more wrong than that immediately above. So much for gooey emotionalism.

He was not here legally when he was hired. That doesn’t answer the question of whether Des Moines should have known, but one can’t dismiss facts.

And the so-called rando was just touching the surface.

Roberts lied about his educational credentials. The school district knew about his Morgan State doctorate lie yet hired him anyway.

He had two gun charges. He explained one of them away to Des Moines.

Word is coming out that the three settlements in PA were created by virtue of his having sexual relationships with staff. A sure way to get fired in most high profile jobs. With 6 kids with five different mothers, it makes no sense he was not careful at work. This may not be fair to him but a superintendent operates in a public fishbowl.

His current gun charges are not trivial and could land him in federal prison before he is deported.

And the list goes on.

So telling others not to listen to some rando when it turns out the rando understated the case reflects no interest in honest inquiry.

It gives off vibes that you are so concerned about the negative externalities of DEI that you instruct others what they can think. Query your level of education and the rigor behind it. Any program of preference will impose costs. The question is whether the costs are justifiable. Most would agree that that pattern of dishonesty and poor conduct here are not acceptable costs. You can argue the point but of course the School Board is suing the search firm for a reason. I guess they ignored your advice to ignore the rando.

By the way this is not a pleasant event. My own bias as a top NCAA track guy myself is towards Roberts. I know how fast 1:46 for the 800 was in 1999, and the fact he did it at Coppin State without the assistance of big time resources would make me consider him high on the resilience and discipline scale. But his conduct and record of deception is completely unacceptable. Lying about his immigration status is serious because it very likely means he will leave the country, but his other deceptions preclude ever working in education again.

In sum, your post has aged incredibly poorly. Facts matter more than your feelings.

You ignored that Trump renewed his visa. Convenient.

Uhhh...there's no evidence that he was even remotely qualified.

Decades of teaching and administrative roles, ABD at Morgan State. Seems to have been a shock all round meaning no outward appearance of being unqualified. Timeline posted suggests he’s been working on status throughout.

Totally fascinating that the fraud has been uncovered. Yet in a field as rife with incompetence as educators, there’s no evidence he wasn’t doing the job better than most.

Let's get this straight. In 2018 and 2019 Trump authorized his employment status for a year. So, if he was hired then, he was hired legally despite the pontificating dude above my post above.

If true, that's a shame for the kids and the Des Moines educational system. Showing their students that integrity snd honesty don"t matter.

The Iowan pp here. I don't think that covering for a felon counts as honesty and integrity. And that's not why they do it. They do it because they see it as protecting their community. I think the revelations here, that this guy was a total fraud that lied about his PhD, his citizenship, his criminal background, and had 5 baby mamas will cause people to reconsider their kind of insular views. They think that immigration is none of the federal government's business and that it's a community's choice whether to accept an illegal immigrant or not. It's a conservative version of sanctuary cities. I don't think that mentality will survive this scandal.

this is eye opening, in maryland you can register to vote and vote as long as you have a driver's license and promise that you are a US citizen? That seems like a major issue considering maryland gives non citizen driver's licenses?
I've been assured on this forum that it is not possible for an illegal immigrant to register to vote in Maryland because the government checks for this sort of thing.

You're hysterical. Why do care more about one rando voting than the person who very much looks like he wants to take away YOUR right to vote?

Have you ever heard of priorities?

Your logic is comical. First, we all just read the linked article, which says that Maryland takes the word of the person registering to vote that they are legal to vote. So if one person does it, hundreds of thousands can do it.

And next, you will not be able to name one thing that the Trump administration has done to restrict, prevent or dissuade citizens from voting, so get a grip. Expecting people to show ID to vote? Gallup shows that requiring photo identification to vote is supported by 84% of those polled and providing proof of citizenship when registering to vote for the first time is supported by 83%. https://news.gallup.com/poll/652523/americans-endorse-early-voting-voter-verification.aspx

Grew up in this school system... so embarrassed by the School Board (and the protestors). I'm not sure the other Iowan PP is correct about how conservatives view illegals in Iowa, but clearly some agree.
