They did indeed cancel the plant.

South Korea now pausing 22 projects across US. Could this administration be more incompetent?

Article below says Trump offered to let them stay, delaying their chartered flight by one day, and all but one refused. For many years SK has struggled to get short term visas needed for workers to set up plants, so they have been using the other type - and it was considered ok. SK is now very reluctant to continue to invest in USA, which Trump was so keen to set up.

Good going, Tori Branum, for ridding your state of those scary smart Asians. Maybe MAGAs can set up a horse and buggy factory.

Trump is a job killer. If you have any experience with opening a foreign manufacturing plant there are hundreds of different foreign nationals who come in. They are usually different groups at each stage but they are not looking to stay in the US. Arresting and chaining them up them like they are criminals is insane. Keeping them locked up in a commercial prison while you ask them to stay? MAGA and Trump do nit live in reality.

That plant is done. Hyundai is just trying to figure out how to write project off. $7.6 billion gone. Any foreign CEO would be fired if he actually talked about investing in the US. I hear other companies are quietly preparing to shut US operations.

South Korean businesses in the US “need to build facilities, install equipment, and set up factories, which requires skilled technicians,” Lee Jae Myung said at a press conference that marked his 100th day in office.

He added that confusion over the current visa situation for South Koreans would lead local companies to question “whether they should go at all.”

Lots of interesting information in this article. For the South Korean president to say this openly is a big slap back to Trump. All these Koreans have been held since last Thursday. I guess Trump allowed them not to be shackled only recently.

This is a huge f up. What a bunch of clowns.

No more jobs in GA.

Your blue state tax dollars will help pay their unemployment/Medicaid etc. Everyone loses.

Big. Beautiful. Bill.

So yeah— not so much.

Newsweek article reports Hyundai promising to review its practices and policies regarding contractors, and Karoline will explain that we really helped Hyundai in the end besides protecting vulnerable foreign workers.

But previously I had seen reports that Hyundai was saying US was causing gridlock in the business visa system forcing them to rely on other types of visas with hopes they could clear the gridlock

A good friend of mine is the PM for the software (non-product) system for another company building an EV factory and he constantly has to send people back to their home country because the US government is so screwed up waiting for a legitimate renewal would cause a visa violation.

Maybe he should try hiring US citizens.

They’re too dumb that’s why they need to import workers.

Or are all the parts and instructions and code notes written in Korean? I don't think any US schools teach Korean.

FCPS does. My DD went to Chantilly and the Academy did. She took a year, BTW.
