Wonder if they will ask about the crime statistics investigation in this presser? |
100% It's more Epstein distraction. He's desperate. We know Epstein raped children. Who else did? |
How are you defining “led by?” The mayors of Tulsa and Jacksonville are both democrats |
ALREADY—> 14 <— HOMICIDES in DC this MONTH, and it’s only August 11th. |
Residents and visitors demand basic safety.
That’s a fact. |
Exactly. The homeless industrial complex needs the problem to continue indefinitely to ensure its existence. |
I live in NYC. Despite what the Trump-ites will tell you, it's a fairly safe city, especially if you stay out of certain high crime areas.
Recently, the most publicized and scariest crimes are those taking place in the subways. This started during the pandemic when ridership went way down and the homeless moved in. (Some of the homeless who did are somewhat mentally competent and realized that they were actually less likely to get covid living in the subways than in the shelters.) There was room for them to stretch out in the subway and platforms with fewer riders. As conditions worsened in the subways, fewer people were willing to ride them. And the fewer people who rode them, the more dangerous it became to ride them. Of course, some crime occurs during rush hours, but most violent crime occurs when there are few people around. So, congestion pricing for vehicular traffic was a huge win. It raises money to fix the subways and buses--which is badly needed because revenue was way down during covid and is still down vs pre-pandemic. Less revenue means less money for maintenance. It meant more people would take the subways and that would mean less violent crime. But of course, Trump wants to stop congestion pricing--presumably because the ex-urbanites who do hour plus commutes into the City are more likely to vote for him than NYC residents. This means less money to maintain the subways and as they get dirtier, the rat population increasebs. Ridership goes down; there's more crime and then the stupid Trumpites say Gotham is a horrible place and needs Trump to save it. Add to that the fact that the Trump Supreme Court declared NYC's gun laws unconstitutional and forced the City to water them down. But , of course, it's the Democrats' "liberal" policies that are causing crime--yeah, right. |
This is a national story. It's P1 on the NYT.
https://www.nytimes.com/live/2025/08/11/us/trump-news I posted it twice on the politics forum, and it was removed. This is going to spread, and the POS has said so explicitly. It's coming to cities all over the US. DC is just a test case. We're already an authoritarian state. We're soon to be a police state. There is no stopping this movement by the right. There's no resistance. The courts are feeble. The American public has to stand up and fight this, and no one wants to disturb their comfy lives. We're all frogs in the boiling water. |
The first thing NY Times did was point out that DC was far from the highest crime city in America and that crime in DC was at a historic low. But that was its print content, not sure what people asked in front of the Emperor in Chief. |
I agree it's a national story. Trump can execute his full authoritarian takeover by quashing rights in cities where he is the most unpopular. First LA, now DC. Who will be able to stand up and speak as cities fall one by one? |
Not even close |
A mindless drone who really doesn't understand the facts of the case. Why did they settle with Trump for $15M - since there was no rape, just Stephanopoulos knowingly putting out disinformation. Convicted of sexual harassment (which I don't believe) is many degrees lighter than a conviction of rape. |
You need to go away. DC "deserves" self-rule just as much as any other US city regardless of whether you like every decision that its elected officials make. |
