No one’s in denial, except the people thinking they have unilateral authority to close a federal agency.

Thinking they have the authority? They closed the place down with no pushback. For all intents and purposes, it's over.

No pushback? They were immediately visited by members of Congress, are being sued, and Rubio has since backtracked to say he’ll be submitting a plan to Congress to recommend the agency be shuttered. Meaning the administration admits it CANNOT shut down an agency all by itself. They lost this round.

Congress has been lacking. They visited? Weren’t allowed in? Held a press conference? This is absolutely crazy. They should have filed for an injunction to stop the madness. This administration (or one person in particular) isn’t waiting for permission. Be bullied his way in got what he wanted, bought himself time for Rubio to get in and now what. Stop the madness before it happens. The dems are deer in the headlights. They came to a gunfight with cookies and milk. It’s unacceptable.

I just wanted to say to those of you who work for USAID, that I'm sorry this is happening. I've met with at least a dozen USAID staff over the years, professionally, and they've all been committed and excellent at explaining the work they are undertaking on behalf of our nation. I hope that Congress wakes up and takes action soon.

This. Everyone I know at USAID is a good person and a true believer.

I’m sorry

They are being recalled by Friday:

“The newly appointed deputy administrator for the agency, Pete Marocco, met with State Department leadership on Tuesday and instructed them to get every USAID employee out of their respective countries worldwide by Friday, according to two sources familiar with the matter. Marocco said that if the State Department did not, the staff would be evacuated by the U.S. military, the sources said.”

Marocco says if necessary the U.S. military will
Fly them out. We are going all out to cede ground to China.

What can we do to help USAID employees?

I'm at a complete loss and feel so useless while I watch all these illegal actions.

USAID people, what can the average non-fed person do?

I will be calling my senators (again, sorry guys) tomorrow morning, asking them to stop this.

An emergency injunction citing irreprable harm might be effective here. Maybe.

Thank you to those offering support.

Many Washington civil service employees were put on involuntary administrative leave tonight. Many, many.

Ask them for an accounting of the cost to do this. Using the military to bring them all back? Must easily be tens of millions of dollars.

Okay I will try here since my posts keep getting deleted. All of usaid is now on administrative leave

This is so illegal and unconstitutional

I'm sorry USAID-- I'm sure you are just the first in a wave of illegal actions but it hurts my heart to see you and your work treated this way.
