Sure. Trade wars always are predictable. Imposing tariffs on Mexico and Canada means leave USMCA. You can look up what that is.

He is bluffing. SMH. People on here are a special kind of dumb.

Let's see what the markets say tomorrow. I'm already so tired of this policy by "truth."

Futures are currently red.

The markets lol. The same markets where the S&P is at record highs after Trump’s election? Those markets? You literally have everyone in this thread buying out Best Buy in anticipation of a bluff. The markets are going to go wild.

Buckle-up buttercups, we’re in for a helluva ride. Trump is nearing the end of his lifespan, what has he got to lose? Götterdämmerung.

Funny, everyone thinks this old man is gonna live forever. He may not even make it to Jan 20th!

And Mexico will fold they don't have a choice. Countries are not always quick to retaliate when a trading partner imposes tariffs because they don't want additional escalation that will leave them worse off.

Just how Mexico folded paying for the felon’s wall lol. I’m going to put my money on Sheinbaum.

So much for cars, produce and most of what people buy at Walmart and Target. I guess their bribe wasn't enough.

He has to get 60 senators to go along with that. Did he explain how he would do that? I doubt he could get 40 senators

No. He has many authorities to do it by himself.

This is false. This is a negotiation tactic to gain concessions and leverage.

No idea if tariffs will happen or not, but it sets up an adversarial relationship with the countries in question. See it for what it is and stop pushing the panic button right out of the gate.

And exactly what is the problem with this?

That you will pay more for everything. You think things are expensive now? Just wait.

Not 25% more. And you could pick US manufacturers instead. And US workers will get more jobs.

What is wrong with that ?

Biden has invested trillions in the US manufacturing base (that the GOP opposed) but it will take years before those plants are online, so in the meantime, the American consumers will get reamed.

Our politicians need to understand that it's simply too late to bring manufacturing back because we will never catch up to the productivity of the Chinese and Vietnamese plant workers. Wall Street sold this country so they can have private jets and fancy boats in the Florida keys. And any manufacturing that comes back will be heavily automated.

Speaking of Vietnam, does anyone remember the TPP? The secret trade bill, NAFTA pt 2 that Obama wanted to rush release without America being able to read the bill? Hillary called it the gold standard. After Bernie and Trump made a big stink about it, she was forced to back down from a bill she supported. Stooge politicans doing at thing for a dollar or a vote. That TPP would’ve been terrible for Working class jobs. It made me lose respect for Obama that he wanted to pass a secret bill. It’s unconstitutional and wrong. It shows how horrible their character is.
Dems are wolves in sheep’s clothing just like Bill Clinton signed nafta and was too ashamed to show his face to the Dem caucus for months after

Meanwhile, here in 2024…

President-elect Donald Trump threatened Monday to slap a 25 percent tariff on Mexican and Canadian goods as long as the countries allowed immigrants to flow over the U.S. border.
He also said he'd impose an additional 10 percent tariff on Chinese goods over the Chinese government's refusal to make good on a promise to use the death penalty on drug dealers.
This Tariff will remain in effect until such time as Drugs, in particular Fentanyl, and all Illegal Aliens stop this Invasion of our Country!'

Sounds good to me. I just won't buy anything.

You understand, the current deal in place is one he negotiated, right?

On the groceries issue: don’t expect the US to make up for lost fruit/veggie imports by growing more here. Trump not only plans to deport any undocumented workers in the US ag industry; he plants to kill the program that allows seasonal agricultural workers to come here *legally* on H2 visas.

Seems like imposing a couple hundred billion of tariffs would be a “major question.” Guess we’ll find out if that doctrine only applies to democratic presidents.

Rolls eyes. Markets been going up for quite awhile, stalled before election and is now on the same trend line where it was two months ago. Please go look at the market, pull the long term trend, add a trend line and get back to us with your stupid comment saying Trump is the reason.
