My complaint about the infamous Blake video - why isn't Parker Posey also getting called out for her behavior in the video? I just finished watching it and also felt she was very rude to the interviewer especially at the end when she rolled her eyes as the interviewer walked away.

Of course not. Blake was supposed to play the game. She’s being paid lot of money to do that. She didn’t. This interview didn’t get out earlier because the movie totally flopped.

I just saw a clip of Benedict Cumberbun or whatever his name is and Kiera knightley do an interview and the male interviewer stated by telling Kiera (who looked gorgeous) that she “looked worn out.”

Benedict was clearly shocked and said did you just tell this beautiful woman she looks worn out? and Kiera goes “yea?!! F**k you!”

Kiera was rude but it’s being celebrated because she stood up for herself and clapped back at a rude question. She acted appropriately.

Blake did not.

Blake comes off as the pretty, popular woman and her sycophant friend ganging up on another woman for sport. The interviewer made a *minor* faux pas by saying "bump" instead of just "congrats on the baby." The interviewer is also a non-native English speaker and a woman, so deserves the benefit of the doubt regarding what is, at worst, a slightly more invasive comment.

If the reporter is truly infertile as she claims; she should know commenting on a pregnant woman’s body is inappropriate. Full stop. And to harbor resentment 8 years later? Yeah, no.

Sure, it's not appropriate. The interviewer is Finnish and was likely repeating a phrase she'd heard other English-speakers use and did not know it could be considered inappropriate.

The resentment she harbors is for Lively treating her like garbage for the rest of the interview. The interviewer made a faux pas. Lively went for blood. I totally get why the experience stick with her.

I am a native English speaker and took the interviewer as meaning nothing more than "congrats on your pregnancy, which you publicly announced." The response was frankly shocking. And so instant, too.

You’re leaving out the key detail of “hey you look a little fat with that baby bump”. Nobody likes that pointed out especially by a stranger. Celebs are often obsessed with their bodies and their careers depend on them. Blake might have been feeling a certain way about that. The interviewer was tactless and clueless.

Have you ever been pregnant? Not everyone is thrilled with all the changes to their body. It’s not a constant awesome glow. Get real.

Oh for gd's sake. How many times has she been pregnant now? It's not exactly a secret that your tummy grows while you're making a baby. She should be used to it by now - and also be normal enough to know this person was just congratulating her about a pregnancy she'd been public about, not saying "you're a fat cow you fat cow."

I wasn't in the room. Maybe before the camera started rolling the interview did say "you're a fat cow" but I doubt it.

It is literally Blake Lively's job to get on camera and sell the movie she's in. Not her job to get on camera and turn into a weirdo who's calling an interviewer fat because the interviewer congratulated her on a pregnancy. This was insane.

It is literally the journalist’s job to conduct herself in a professional manner. How do you think it’s going to go when you comment on a pregnant actress’s body?

No one has explained why it was not OK for the reporter to comment on Blake‘s body, but it is okay for Blake’s retort to comment on the reporter’s body? If she didn’t like the comment she could’ve said, “Hold on can we restart? I know I am clearly pregnant but I don’t want to talk about it in this interview.” You don’t clap black at someone by pointing out their bump when they aren’t pregnant. If you want to take the high road which of you are a celebrity trying to promote something and trying to get the public on your side, that’s just what you need to do, you don’t defend yourself by insulting a female reporters body.

Even though I don’t love Parker Posey’s role in this interview, she at least tried to diffuse this situation by putting the attention on her. She could tell how awkward it was.

Again, though, I feel like even though that was awkward and is getting a lot of attention, it’s not even the worst part of the interview. Blake basically just decided she was done and instead of doing her job which was to promote the movie and maybe even elevate the conversation about fashion to how talented the costume designers were, she just decided to tank it and be a brat.

Is certainly is her right to do that, but it’s also the public’s right to come away from that interview thinking she’s entitled.

Do you have a job? Has anyone ever said anything inappropriate or offensive to you at work and had your response been just to burn it down? Throw a tantrum and refuse to do your job instead of handling it professionally?

Adults run into awkward and uncomfortable situations at time. It is a part of life. There are mature ways of dealing with it and there are ways to revert to middle school. Blake chose the latter. It’s embarrassing for her.

I admire the people more who don’t just take it than those who insist you should no matter how inappropriate or uncomfortable.

+1 Blake behaved like a bully. She didn't have to take it, if she feels that strongly she could use her big girl words and say 'I'm here as an actor to talk about my work, I do not want to discuss my body or my pregnancy". Instead she was passive aggressive and mean in response to a well intentioned comment from a foreign reporter.

The reporter is acting like a baby now. She’s 51! Time to grow up and dry her tears over someone snarking back at her for doing a crummy job that day, 8 years later.

I've been treated horribly in public by powerful people and let me tell you, it stays with you. I am glad the journalist is speaking out and that Lively is getting backlash for it. Hopefully it will incentivize celebrities to act like grownups instead of petty schoolyard bullies.

She sort of is but I think most people see her as being put in a suuuper uncomfortable position and trying to defuse it a little bit with a joke right at the beginning, then being sort of stuck in this terrible dynamic. She's def not looking like a hero here but I would not have wanted to be the second person sitting for this interview either.

I hadn't heard of this until now, and I actually couldn't get through the video she was so horrible. The sheer amount of discomfort just oozing through that video is hard to describe. She brought a gun to a knife fight for sure.

I've never paid any attention to Blake Lively at all, and I don't think I've ever seen her in anything. Not sure I want to now.

NP/counterpoint. I work in a male dominated environment and have struggled with an ED my entire life. I had two pregnancies back to back and definitely got a LOT of comments about my body. It was truly awful for me, mentally and physically. Even today, I came into the office in a pair of jeans that finally fit again after a year PP and my boss (who is well meaning but still!) goes, “oh wow Larla, you’re in jeans! we never see you dress down!” And here I am spiraling bc I think everyone is monitoring that I’m always in dresses to hide my mom body.
