Once again the MAGAs supporting this are conflating what is a law (with fines or imprisonment as a repercussion) and what is unethical and inappropriate behavior for an employee of the U.S. government in a non partisan job.
Whether or not the behavior was illegal is irrelevant. And yes, the little woman or man of the house has to get on board lest the appearance of impropriety attach itself to the spouse employed by the U.S. government. I know Trump is a big fan of doing whatever he wants and arguing that it’s not illegal, but the success of our country to date has rested on people acting for the common good and following norms and acting civilly. |
And many of us have explained how spouses of governmental employees have had to follow certain rules of behavior. If Mr and Mrs Alito want to support the insurrectionists, then he needs to step down. |
+1 Just another corrupt hack. No wonder the Rs love him. |
Then why did Alito claim it was in response to the neighbor? |
It was purposely hung upside down but reading comprehension probably isn’t the strong suit of anyone defending this. |
The only reason this is in the news today when it happened 3+ years ago is to trash Alito before the ruling comes out on Trump’s immunity. |
And? He deserves to be absolutely trashed over this. It shouldn’t have taken this long for this act to have been revealed. |
Alito should be impeached for actions leading to a “loss in public trust” |
Life time appointment and John Roberts is the most ineffective Chief Justice of all time. It is my personal hope that Bush 41 and Bush 43 rot in Hell for their SC appointments of these two. |
So your spouse installs swastika on your lawn, and when it's suggested this looks bad for you you're like, "I cannot *possibly* be responsible for the swastikas that my spouse has installed on my lawn. And I have a job that requires me to have excellent judgment! Did I mention people have to trust my excellent judgment for my job, one of the most important jobs in the country, to have any legitimacy. What's the problem? |
The right? Sure. Does this demonstrate bats*** levels of bad judgment? Yes it does! I'd say this is pretty clear evidence this person does not have the mental wherewithal to be in this job. Age related? Maybe. Whatever it is, this is nuts he could think it's appropriate or ok. And lol at the "it's not just his house" thing. Sure, yes, not just his house. But ALSO his house. It reflects him. |
The whole line of defense of "his wife is free to do whatever she wants" is absolutely absurd. If I hung up a sh!tty looking decoration in front of our house, my spouse would kindly tell me to take it down...and vice versa. This "control-based" defense is so disingenuous. |
I have difficulty believing his wife did this alone. When I was in HS, seniors were responsible for raising and lowering US Flag every day and it took two people. Those flags are heavy and the grommets only on the correct edge to raise flag.
Liar, liar, pants on fire! |
“As numerous legal ethics experts told the New York Times, like other federal judges, Supreme Court justices should avoid any appearance of partisanship or bias that would lead to Americans questioning their judgment.” |
