A little late for that now.

Yes we know deadline to file is long gone. Never too early to start planning for next election when the rest of this current board is voted out.

Sure, if you're amenable to paying them full time salaries.

Either BOE hasn't done homework/research to know what exactly they should be asking; CO tells not to ask certain type of questions or any; or trying to keep peace in board room by not asking(!).

I've noticed the same. When I first watched BOE meetings, I was astounded by the lack of oversight which is what I expected a board to do. It was like they were all handed rubber stamps upon joining the board.

As in past years, the most outspoken member of the BOE is.. the student member:

This kid is going places. I agree! They move way too slow. Waaay too slow. Too many cooks in the kitchen. Time to thin out CO or get a more efficient system in place.

Something significant must have been occupying a lot of central office staff time and attention over the last several months.

Agreed. But student safety never should be put on the back burner. Everyone in central office wasn’t involved in that and ignoring such a concern demonstrates a severe lack of organization at central. They have no answers??? T

No one else could help implement a program such as requiring IDs? All staff and students already have them. Monitoring bathrooms? This is not a new issue that materialized in October. It should have been addressed well before this gentleman brought it up to the board and demanded accountability.

Seriously. What the F is wrong with these adults!!! Why silent? Walking on egg shells? Is everyone controlled by Central's Communications Crummy Chris (yea that's 4 Cs for ya) in what they can say or write?Principals need approval for most communications that are sent to parents. And a Board that mostly can't hold anyone accountable.

I think you had 5 Cs above if you count -controlled. But who's counting?

If you follow the meetings, it may make you want to vote for outsiders such as those mentioned on this thread. By voting Apple, you are asking for more of the same. But, ask yourself, do you want a '16 U.S. Presidential general election type outcome by voting for the [two] outsiders talked about here? If they win, we will not be voting in the other half of BOE for another few years.

Or the BOE members apologize and insist they know how hard the MCPS staff are working, even though it's clear the staff in question are fumbling or have seriously dropped the ball.

There's a strange propensity among the BOE to apologize for even performing their basic oversight functions as board members.

I hadn't noticed, but I was hoping you could provide a few examples.

+1. All I can think of is when they apologize for falling behind in the scheduled timing of agenda items, which seems like a thing normal humans would do.

If you watch BOE meetings regularly, I don't see how you miss it.

Please cite specific examples

I’m not doing free labor for you. If you’re interested, go and watch previous BOE meetings. If not, keep it moving.

Can someone highlight meaningful changes made by the current board? Lynne if you're still around in here, this one could be for you.

Want to know about Diaz? Ask her Sherwood colleagues. She was not liked. She was not a team player. She showed up late for work, a lot. She refused to wear a mask when schools were reopened even though she had older, vulnerable colleagues. She talks “tough” but is clueless about how the school system actually works. Her “simple solutions” simply aren’t solutions.

I'm one of the posters people are weirdly accusing of being Lynne Harris, and I am not Lynne Harris.

This is exactly why I'm not voting for any incumbents.

They have hired their own financial analyst and a deputy chief of staff, so I am hopeful they will be better equipped and prepared to provide oversight going forward. I also think the overdue changes in the HR processes in the wake of the scandal are meaningful.

Amazing it took an expose by a journalist at the Post to finally spur them into any action.
