Right? Now I just feel badly for poor, underappreciated Hood. Go Blazers! |

Happy for you. My kid isn’t going there (first choice) because didn’t get any aid. |
That’s too funny. I,too, had not heard of Hood the college and thought the reference was to “hood.” |
University of the Arts, London
Accepted: Parsons, Pratt, RISD, Syracuse, Tisch |
Durham: sounds like it’s in North Carolina Bristol: sounds boring; a city few Americans know of Edinburgh: you guys pronounce it wrong Exeter: sounds like a prominent American prep school LSE: Sounds like it teaches only one subject |
Hood is a college. Capital H. Breathe. |
Curious why DC chose UF - that is an amazing list of schools to pick from! |
This is almost the exact list for my junior. Do you mind sharing stats and if he/she got any merit aid? |
Was your child a STEM major? My child, humanities, got the exact opposite - into Princeton (REA) and Stanford, rejected Yale. Leaning Princeton. |
Tons of combined degree programs (so can get a masters and bachelors in 4 years); wanted a top 30 school, but wanted out of state; excellent experience during a private tour (for UF, a lot of students will reach out to offer tours); loved the vibe when we visited (incredibly friendly - seriously, every single person we met was awesome); reasonable cost (comparable to in-state W&M and UVA); does not require meal plan (wants to cook own food - child does bodybuilding); excellent career services and outcomes; close to wonderful beaches and attractions; loved the incredible school spirit (did not even think this would be a factor until we visited). |
NP (not the pp whose kid chose UF) but if I had that same list I’d either choose UF or Tulane. Love the vibes at both schools and both are excellent schools! UVA and W&M are great too but I’d want to get farther away from home. |
University of Michigan EA. Visited and loved it. On a scale of 1-10, definitely a 10 in terms of happiness. |
My kid is trying to make a decision among same schools (UF, UVA and W&M), but leaning towards UF for similar reasons. Nothing against Virginia schools, but just wants a change from living in Virginia. Also, kid received a scholarship, which makes the cost of UF less than UVA or W&M. |
Really? I would never chose the school of 35,000 kids over a smaller school. |
