She makes several racist comments re natives to many characters in the two episodes (did you hear that from your spirit animal, laundromat grandma, you’re just a night nurse, and then her complete freak out over her step daughter getting sharpie fake tattoo marks). She’s a real bigot. I’m sorry if she has trauma, so what?!

None of those behaviors should be tolerated. She’s just an awful a-hole character.

Well the trooper told her no one liked her. Jodie is playing the character perfectly.

Exactly. She's playing a part. Maybe the PP should find another show to watch if someone *acting* a certain way is so triggering.

Huh? PP is talking about the character, not JF herself. Maybe you should find another thread if *reading* that comment is so triggering for you.

Wow. I'm having the opposite reaction. I was drawn in immediately to this season. It took me a bit to warm up to season 1. I'm glad to see so many women and non white people in this show.

Also, there is a nut job posting here who seems to be triggered by weird things and desires to derail this thread. I'm going to try to ignore her posts and encourage everyone else to.

I'm confused about the relationship between Clark and the murdered Inuit woman. Why did they hide it. Were they not supposed to leave the station?

I agree. I'm loving it. All of the connections have not been made for me but I'm looking forward to seeing it unfold.

Me, too - I think this season is incredible, and incredibly engrossing, so far

You don’t have to see the other seasons. Whatever connection there is it’s tangential. That being said, I think all of thr other seasons, especially Season One and Three, are much, much better than this one.

+1
Season One was some of the best acting I've ever seen. Except that the storyline was the most harrowing and traumatic for me to watch. Other than that, it was a first-class show.

I think the acting is impressive in this season as well. I had a hard time with season 1 because I can’t stand mm or wh. Mm is a complete narcissist- watch any interview with him. I love that HBO often promotes series that feature talented less known actors. I’m very impressed by kali’s acting skills but know she’s going to have lots of haters like Serena Williams has just because she isn’t a 90 pound blonde blue eyed waif.

Matthew McConaughey may be a "narcissist" but his acting in Season 1 is beyond spectacular.

Oh, good grief. The PPP is outraged because a character is supposed to be unpleasant. "None of these behaviors should be tolerated!"

I thought the third episode was the best one so far. Jodie Foster is going a great job of playing a very unlikeable person (PP was right, not sure why other posters got so worked up about that opinion) and the other cop Evangeline is IMO more likable. Both are great actresses. I had never heard of Kali Reis before this but she’s pretty good.

Yea, agree. This was creepiest one and I’m addicted!!!

Best one so far…

BUT, if cookies are $20 a bag because of Arctic prices, I probably wouldn’t throw what looked like a perfectly good orange away into the dark. And if some unknown entity threw it back, I would be getting the F out of there and keep driving.

So the arctic research center is funded by the same Tuttle organization that has the schools in Louisiana or whatever backwater!

I think Danvers (JF) doesn’t want her stepdaughter to identify with her Inuit heritage because she’s seen such ugly things happen to the Inuit women and she’s scared to death for her stepdaughter. The woman who was killed so viciously, Annie, had the same facial tattoos that her stepdaughter was wearing. She doesn’t want the girl to be targeted.

So one of them executed a guy while on a dv call and I can't guess which one.

I tried, but I can’t watch this show. The writing is terrible and Kali Reis cannot act. She has two expressions that she keeps switching back and forth from. It’s especially comical next to Jodie Foster. I can’t believe this is an HBO show. And why or why did HBO label this as True Detective and get my hopes up even more?

I’ve started watching Monsieur Spade on AMC instead. The acting, the writing, the directing are all so better and what I would expect from a high quality detective.

I’m concluding that Navarro is now starting to experience delusions like her sister and mother did. Navarro seems like the more resourceful cop (was able to find where the Talalal engineer was) and is better at speaking and questioning people where as JF seems completely anxious and flustered when someone doesn’t immediately cede to her authority (how she interacts when children are involved vs when she finds Adam in the nomad camp).

I read there is a connection between the source of the funding of Talal and the source of the private schools in LA during season 1.

This isn't an airport, no need to announce your departure.

It’s comments like yours that make me think PR people have infiltrated this board. The whole point is to discuss opinions. Wanting to stop watching a show is one of them.
