PP here - and that is exactly what I'm going to do, too! |
DP. I think the hostility JF has toward the Inuit is obviously part of the plot. Maybe you should relax just a tad and see how it all plays out?
|
Exactly. She's playing a part. Maybe the PP should find another show to watch if someone *acting* a certain way is so triggering. |
You must not know anyone in law enforcement with reservations nearby. It's an accurate depiction of the strain. |
|
Fun fact, I just discovered this show was filmed in Iceland!

and it’s clear in your opinion beauty is blonde, blue eyed and less than 90 pounds. We see you. |
You’re an idiot. They were not having a romantic moment. Do you not understand the point? Are you really that dumb? |
| The writing is really bad. I'm out after two episodes. It's an insult to call it True Detective. It should just be Night Country and stand on its own. |
Wow. I'm having the opposite reaction. I was drawn in immediately to this season. It took me a bit to warm up to season 1. I'm glad to see so many women and non white people in this show. Also, there is a nut job posting here who seems to be triggered by weird things and desires to derail this thread. I'm going to try to ignore her posts and encourage everyone else to. I'm confused about the relationship between Clark and the murdered Inuit woman. Why did they hide it. Were they not supposed to leave the station? |
I agree. I'm loving it. All of the connections have not been made for me but I'm looking forward to seeing it unfold. |
| For those who have watched other seasons - is it necessary to watch the other seasons first? Are they all tied together or stand alone? |
Sadly, I could not agree more. The writing is atrocious and the story requires an extreme suspension of disbelief. What kind of detectives can’t count bodies correctly? The dialogue is strained and awkward. Speaking of dialogue, the way they’ve written in the backstory, mostly through dialogue, is beyond clunky. Every time they show that stupid, symbolic polar bear, I feel like I’m being beaten over the head! It’s like the director is yelling at me, “can’t you see how symbolic this is?” Episode two was even worse than episode one and at this point, I don’t care about the mystery or what happens to the characters. After genuinely looking forward to it, I’m out, too. |
You don’t have to see the other seasons. Whatever connection there is it’s tangential. That being said, I think all of thr other seasons, especially Season One and Three, are much, much better than this one. |
+1 Season One was some of the best acting I've ever seen. Except that the storyline was the most harrowing and traumatic for me to watch. Other than that, it was a first-class show. |
I think the acting is impressive in this season as well. I had a hard time with season 1 because I can’t stand mm or wh. Mm is a complete narcissist- watch any interview with him. I love that HBO often promotes series that feature talented less known actors. I’m very impressed by kali’s acting skills but know she’s going to have lots of haters like Serena Williams has just because she isn’t a 90 pound blonde blue eyed waif. |
