Of course and good luck!! Your kid learned to persist. And, pending a lower maturity level, will likely do fine at many places mentioned. Lots of kids don’t hit their stride until college! |
Check out the SUNY schools. |
Rider and Georgian Court in NJ might work
Slippery Rock or Bloomsburg (now under Commonwealth U umbrella) in PA A little outside the radius, but you might also look at Springfield College in MA |
The gpa depends a bit on what coursework your child took, what school and what scores… but some suggestions:
Temple, Univ of Iowa, Univ of Northern Iowa, Univ of Arizona, Univ of Kansas — if you’re okay with the religious influence, BYU, Catholic, U of Utah, You have many suggestions for smaller schools but if the student will remain local, you may want to consider Trinity College in DC. In Md, Salisbury and Frostburg are easier for admissions. Also, - If SAT scores are low, consider taking the ACT. A good test score can help an applicant with a lower gpa. |
Oops, forgot one: University of Cincinnati |
This page loves to break down a B or C student. It’s bonkers. Yes they can go on to do great things and even go to good schools. |
I call bullshit. Total bullshit. |
Your kid sounds like the first category the Pp mentioned yet you are being defensive about the second category? |
ECU |
An C student at a NOVA suburban school is an A at a DC school. Get it? |
This is silly. He was a C student when C literally meant “average” |
Shenandoah Univ
Appalachian State Junior college or community college for 2 years and then transfer. Let not having to live at home be his motivation for getting good enough grades to transfer. |
I took what the PPs were saying to be more along the lines of saying their DCs aren’t necessarily mature and/or hard working enough for the parent to be willing to financially support them going way out of state. But I can see where it would also be construed as shitting on ODU |
My B-/C+ student got into some of the smaller Virginia publics (Longwood, etc). I would reccomend a smaller school that has supports in place and within a 3-4 hour drive. College is a huge transition and all these people who are reccomending a school a plane ride away clearly do not have kids that have struggles. You need to be able to get there quickly if something goes awry. |
Ok? |
