Funny thing is that Hopkins and Vanderbilt also have ED2 but do seem to invite much controversy. |
Do not. |
A year or two ago there was a poster who really went after Hopkins. They were extremely upset for several days. |
They don’t blanket the country with tacky flyers begging kids to apply. |
This sounds so crazy defensive to me. Anyone can see the school is gaming the system. Do you not like how obvious that is? I’m a University of Chicago legacy and school donor, and I hate the direction the school has taken. It’s frankly embarrassing. |
This^. |
Idk about others but mine rejected them as he had better options so its not personal for us. Its a great school, just plays too many games to stay up in rankings. |
We got by far more flyers from wash U and Columbia |
Are they deceiving kids into thinking that admission is likely, or not? |
Chicago sent a lot. So did Washington, JHU, UNC, and Vanderbilt. The Ivies sent only one each. Berkeley sent four. CalTech sent two. Duke sent three or four. |
I don’t understand what is the problem with that. You don’t want it just throw it in a trash.
How is that negative or positive on any institution? If they don’t send them to everyone, people will say they are not inclusive. |
Nobody but you said anything about deception. If you have to beg for applicants, it’s a bad look no matter whether you are University of Phoenix or University of Chicago. |
lol good try The weekly flyers make the school look desperate. They are like the creepy guy with a boombox outside your window from that old movie. No other good school acts like a crazed stalker. |
sorry dude every organization markets… colleges, clubs, churches, everything, and of course for profit businesses. All of them. Every one. It’s not some kind of evil conspiracy when selective colleges do it. You’re just wrong. |
This has turned out to be a ridiculous thread. All the complainers please send your kids there for a year and see how they do then come back and report. |
