East Asian people are polite and mask if any symptoms. Planet Halo makes an array of easy to wear, cute kids masks. They work. Your child won’t be sick with anything respiratory anymore if you teach proper masking. It’s polite, considerate and good to teach children to think of others.

If so, then the obvious solution that should make everyone happy is to have your kids wear masks. Everyone else can choose to carry on like normal, accepting occasional illnesses.

The colds, flu and Covid going around are not occasional.

Colds, including covid (which is asymptomatic or a cold for most people at this point), are a normal part of life. I get 1-2 colds over a year, my kids get maybe 4. The masks didn't change this (my kid who got covid at school got it while everyone was masked). It seems all the masks do is give my kids skin infections from having their facial skin marinate in snot all day after a sneeze.

I obviously can't speak for your kids, but the vast majority of kids are not sick constantly. You might be confusing lingering symptoms, or allergies, for actual illness.

Are "long colds" a thing?

Well kids are the germiest, so if you want the most impact than yes you would have to mask the germiest to be effective.

You aren't sane if you have no regard of others.

DP. If others are that worried about catching covid again, they should be wearing a protective mask. Given that a large percentage of cases are asymptomatic-- probably a full majority in kids-- expecting others to mask when they think there's a chance they have covid isn't going to be an effective strategy.

Denial must be a wonderful thing. Seek help. Not a good coping strategy. And, please don't have more kids if you cannot care for the ones you have.

DP. You’re the one that sounds in denial. Look, if we the parents had Covid and our kids did not, we would send them to school in masks. But you to need to accept that a lot of people are not even testing anymore (although I think people in this area are more likely to do so). And kids often present with mild or no symptoms at all. You need to accept the current reality and take steps to mitigate your own risk rather than ranting to strangers on the internet.

So, basically you don’t care about anyone. Got it.

Your reading comprehension skills are very poor. Did you miss a lot of school as a child too?

No it's not. Sending kids with a high level of exposure to school is a huge issue. They cannot mask all the time and you simply don't care who your impact.

Does MCPS still recommend kids quarantine for exposure? If so I would happily follow the rules and keep my kids home- but I didn't think that was the policy anymore. There are very real consequences to missing 5+ days of school for every covid exposure. My kids know how to mask so I would send them with masks. If your kids struggle to mask or are very young and missing school is NBD, I see how you might reach a different conclusion.

And you're free to mask your kids, or, at least, to try to. They'll probably take them off outside your view. But most people would rather get sick occasionally than wear masks.

MCPS expects you to follow CDC guidelines for isolating at home for 5 days. You can test early out to masking days 6-10, but not for isolating at home

That's for a positive test, not for exposure.

I'm not sure how many times people have to explain this but COVID is not a cold.

So what! What if it was Blacks? Would you make an issue about it?
