If it was anyone else but Piers I would agree. |

Alanis takes on Mandinka with Foo Fighters as a tribute. Shows how incredibly hard to sing this is and what an immense talent Sinead had.

Oof - that was painful to hear. I had to turn it off. Agree that it underscores how hard it is to sing that song. I am going back to the David Letterman performance. |

I can only name one song of Sinead’s: Nothing Compares 2 U”
I always thought she was batsh*t. |
Terrorist really? One man’s terrorist is another man’s revolutionary hero. Ask George Washington. |
She was Muslim for a while. She was a good singer/artist AND she suffered from mental illness to such a degree she took her own life…and recognizing that she suffered from mental illness can prompt one to take that into consideration when evaluating everything she’s ever said or done. ^^^ Both things can be true. |
| I'm GenX, and loved Nothing Compares 2U. I didn't really know much of her other music. I've been listening to it since she died. Wow! It's like a musical biography. So much pain, abuse, longing, love, mothering. She was haunted by a horrifying childhood and mental illness. I feel for her, and her kids. RIP |
Pretty sure she didn’t write the song. Didn’t Prince write it? |
Prince wrote it about a breakup. Sinead sang it about her mother. |
| "Nothing Compares" was NOT her best song (and yes, Prince wrote it). |
So surprised by this. Broken heart syndrome? |
Not likely, as it typically occurs in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy/personal loss. More likely it was heart disease leading to a cardiac arrest - Sinead was menopausal, had suffered a very difficult perimenopause and she was a long time smoker. Women with that profile are commonly victims of heart attacks in their 50s and 60s. I am heartened to know that she didn’t succumb to her depression and grief by her own hand. It gives power back to her admonition after Shane’s death that nobody should follow him down the path of suicide. |
