A very brave woman, a great talent, and a great loss. RIP.

She was way ahead of her time on so many awful people/institutions:

Truly a legend!

I imagine with fame you'd often be surrounded by "yes" people who weren't able to help her when she desperately needed it. She did a video alone after calling 9-1-1 to hospitalize herself. It's sad she wasn't able to get better or more or different mental health care or support, especially following her son's death a year or so ago.

Sinead is a real one for her letter to Miley. Legend.

Very sad for her family. She was a complete mess.

Just read this today. Absolutely on point as she was about Black Boys on Mopeds both in the UK (particularly for Meghan Markle) and in the US.

That’s gross! Definitely confirms how messed up she was.

I’m sorry but that whole email is so misogynistic.

“If Taylor Swift’s music speaks to people who need to express their pain and anxiety, but want to “shake it off,” then Sinead O’Connor’s music spoke to those who are not so lucky. While Swift’s songs will make you feel less alone (and she’ll do it wearing sequins, with a toss of her long, flowing blond mane), O’Connor’s music registers for those who feel they must be alone with their grief.”

Thank you Sinead for speaking for those of us who aren’t thin, blond women who shake off heartache, but have truly seen abuse at very young ages.

Sinead O'Connor, the topic of this thread, was an amazing musician.

She called out the closed-mindedness and racism of England decades ago.

She embraced reggae as the only true religion she held her whole adult life.

She had an amazing voice.

She struggled with a terrible mental illness. I wish she had been properly treated for this illness.

I hope that her children understand how exceptionally gifted she was.
