Nuttiness aside, does anyone know why they changed the teachers from what was in the talking points app?

Because all you crazy parents figured it and word got to administrators. This is the first time that the school year is starting off with Talking Points linked to SIS, and the vendor didn’t know to hide the teacher assignment. Thankfully administrators alerted the IT team who then had the vendor shut it down.

It will open back on Talking Points.

Why would that matter?

Registrars have been entering kids into SIS with teacher assignments for the past few weeks. But that doesn’t mean schools are ready to finalize them and share teacher assignments with parents the first or second week of August. Kids are still registering and there might be changes.

Well over a week ago, parents figured out that they could go into their Talking Points app and see the teacher that was assigned in SIS. But principals had no idea this was happening because it shouldn’t have happened. The vendor didn’t know that they should’ve hidden the teacher assignment until schools were ready to share them (typically today or tomorrow.)

Hmm how did you hear of this information?

+1 why would teacher assignments change? That is the question.

PP from pages ago. Didn’t you not follow my suggestions to roll in 30 minutes into the OH or skip altogether? Open House really should be “come by anytime btwn these hours, but it ends at stated time. You need to stay only about 15 minutes because this isn’t a parent teacher conference.

Showed up 10:45, left noon due to multiple kids in different grades.

Skip it! Waste of time!

So is BTSN above 6th grade.

Took me longer to park than it did to distribute supplies.

There is an AP that was hired. We do not know the details.

Was anyone not impressed today? How the heck are they going to have BTSN on just one night for grades 1-6? Where are we all supposed to park? It should be split into two nights. Grades 1-3 on one night, grades 4-6 the next. 5ere are parents with 3 kids in grades 1,3, and 5. How will they attend all their kids’ sessions in the same night? Poor planning.

Go to the Open House midway through! If it’s say 10-12, aim to arrive @11:15. Don’t go so early that you are waiting in line for the school doors to be unlocked. Open House = staggered times. You can hit the parking lot at 11:10 and the early birds will be leaving!

Also, life will go on if you and DC don’t go to Open House! It’s fine to skip! Don’t leave a vacation early for this.

Keep in mind that this isn’t a parent-teacher conference: do NOT monopolize the teacher’s time! Have DC introduce themselves briefly, period. No standing around and chatting with the teacher for the entire time. A wave will suffice. If your DC has all sorts of special info that must be conveyed, send in a letter in an envelope.

You’re welcome!

Great advice!
