The number of parents that showed up to the meeting and then signed the petition is hardly a “small group” and most are hardly privileged. And if you really are a teacher in a classroom at Hardy, you will understand the concerns that motivated their actions perfectly. |
Adios! |
This is the problem with upper NW parents. They think they are the experts on everything and are smarter than the adults with education degrees and hundreds of collective years of experience working in schools….The building had issues this year, yes. But it was not that extreme that the principal couldn’t be allowed to finish the last 21 days of the school year. This is completely toxic and undermines every adult in the building. And we want no parts of it. |
It was most definitely a small group of parents.
And no teachers signed the petition. In fact - there were several emergency staff meetings where staff was vehemently against this whole thing. |
The solution to this is A) don’t send your kids to upper NW schools or B) get a job teaching outside of upper NW |
Yah, another Hardy teacher here super grossed out by the entire situation. Thanks for treating our community like your personal sims game |
I'm a Hardy teacher too. Some of the events are grossly exaggerated. However, I do agree that PJ lacked the experience to lead this school. He's not the only one that needs replacing, the 8th grade AP also needs another school. She's abrasive and is one of the reasons why several teachers left last school year and why several are leaving this year. |
Here’s a reality check for the the parents on this forum (at all schools not just Hardy) who constantly terrorize your children’s teachers and administrators with your nonsensical complaints, unrealistic expectations, and huge egos: you are making your children pariahs.
Teachers stay 20 feet away from kids with obnoxious parents. Yes, I know it’s not fair to the kids but it is what it is. You may not like what I’m saying but I’m telling you the truth. |
Bullies. This was bullying. The building had the same issues under Principal Cooke. And under the principal before that. Principal Cooke left Hardy to get away from the parent bullies. He had enough. I hope you are all satisfied. And good luck with IS Hughes. He really really cares about your children. TRAGIC! |
Sending love and support to you colleague. |
TRUTH! |
Hardy teachers need to sick out on Monday. Send a message to DCPS leadership that they will not work under these conditions. Stop pandering to folks SES status. Imagine, a group of snobs decided they know how to run a school and got their way. The teachers and families did not matter. I agree they used their privilege.
And by the way— what’s next. Hopefully the next principal is to their liking |
As a parent who signed the petition, I'm kinda grossed out by it too. But change was desperately needed, and there was only one option available for anything to change next year. So here we are. |
Weird. I thought advocating for your kid's education through available channels (PTA, etc.) was what engaged citizens do. Would you prefer liberal guilt stop these families from using available channels? Go away. |
I am grossed out that you all think this was okay. I am grossed out that kids are walking around thinking and knowing their principal was fired and not sure why. |
