Why don’t advocates for the homeless build spacious housing for them 1-2 hours away from DC?

NP. Brilliant counterpoint, but you are wrong. People in rural areas often travel great distances for medical and dental care, or even a grocery store. They do not have adequate services for the homeless.

This is one reason we don't live in a rural area anymore. Terrible health care, even worse than here. You would have to import all services and supports.

It would be easier to turn some of these half empty office buildings into housing and service centers for the homeless.

Agree with this. The Feds and Maryland built Eastern Shore Correctional in Somerset County. All it did is bring crime to the area and also
brought a very large population of derelict men to the area that drift to Wicomico County for services when they get released. Wicomico County
never had a homeless problem until the prison was built. Why should rural areas be dumped on with the worst criminals from Baltimore.

Number one, you can’t just “go sign up for services.” You would get various appointments during which it would be very clear to the people assessing your need that you are full of sh*t and don’t need services. You would have to lie about so much that will be transparent.

It’s not that simple and there are a ton of complicating factors for people experiencing homelessness of all kinds. In any event, please do not waste the time and resources of a system that is already struggling to meet the needs of people with BS claims that you’re homeless so your kids can go to rich kid schools. Answered that already. Service providers would live onsite and provide services. Residents would be bused to population hubs frequently.
