Do you assume homes with American Flags are republicans?

Also, why does someone post this same thread every six months?

It certainly seems some poster out there has this same thread topic on “repeat”.

With about a 6 month cycle.

Maybe someone in Moscow or Beijing?

No, I am not joking. These topics are designed to DIVIDE Americans.

Every citizen should put a flag to stop extreme right from claiming it as a symbol.

I TRY not to flinch in the same way when I see an American flag but sometimes it's hard not to. Especially when it is hanging out the side of a truck with a big dog in it.

You just insulted millions of your own countrymen. Especially as there's a big coronation coming up. And, of course, the Scottish and Welsh nationalists.

There is a hardcore element of progressive people who openly distrust any symbols of patriotism, but at the same time they're usually the same people who gleefully fly the rainbow flag. Ironies of life.

NP. I intend to insult them.

Really. I'm always a bit sad when I encounter such hard ideological hatred of those who have different views. One wonders what went wrong.

Right? Nothing wrong with knife-wielding skinheads. White supremacy is just a different view that we should respect.

This is why we have an American flag..

I also agree that these threads are started by people who want to divide us.
Anonymous
Yes for people who have flags attached to their cars. Maga at the minimum, definitely some sort of ahole.

Jeff Steel noticed this too.

Not everyone reads his daily front page “threads with the most engagement” synopsis. But this particular thread was SECOND for most engagement on DCUMAD yesterday. Jeff wrote (in part only):

“When I saw this thread I thought it was an older thread that must have been revived because I am almost certain there was a similar thread recently.“

Someone out there is intentionally trying to divide us.

Russia and/or China are the most likely to benefit.

Jeff: did an an anonymous VPN or privatizing site create this thread? Those web services are routinely used by Russian or Chinese trolls.

Tons of flags, huge flags, thin blue line flags? You betcha. Probably Christian nationalists, too.

It really bugs me when people leave their flags out all night, have them dragging on the ground, or have clothing etc with a flag design. It seems very disrespectful.

Oh good lord, who has time to take their flag up and down every evening? It's a private residence, not a military base.

If properly lit, it is respectful to keep flag flying all night. Assuming ones PP mentioned are since they are seeing them at night.

Is it proper to fly the U.S. flag at night?

The Flag Code states it is the universal custom to display the flag only from sunrise to sunset on buildings and on stationary flag staffs in the open. However, when a patriotic effect is desired, the flag may be displayed 24 hours a day if properly illuminated during the hours of darkness. The American Legion interprets “proper illumination” as a light specifically placed to illuminate the flag (preferred) or having a light source sufficient to illuminate the flag so it is recognizable as such by the casual observer.

No. I assume homes like these are in HOAs which prohibit the display of any other flag other than the U.S. one.

How silly.

It’s a valid question that I’ve posted before (I believe in Politics)….maybe a year ago.

I’m in NoVa.

That's right. Everyone who flies a flag is a knife wielding skinhead supremacist. Got it.

And, broadly speaking, yes, you need to respect the views of someone who is flying a flag and who isn't bothering you.

No one said that.

And no one needs to respect white supremacists.

Same here. The American flag belongs to all Americans. Republicans don’t have any special right to it.

I hope that's not the presumption. DH and I are wildly liberal, but we display a flag. His father was a Marine, and it was installed in DH to put out the flag. I go along with it because it matters to him.
