UVA EA Stats

DC best friend got in. IB diploma. FCPS. Apparently ACT of 29. and close to straight As. Lots of others at school either rejected-- including one legacy - and most others deferred.

Got to say I'm skeptical of some of these..

Let’s not assume we know the results of the rest of these huge classes. Just because your kid’s friends didn’t get in doesn’t mean no one did.

Got in UVA.

A little more than half of instate applicants were rejected according to Dean J.

Denied. 1570 SAT. 4.0 UWGPA. 6 APs 1 DE. only 1 AP not STEM. Moved after 10th instate and lost gpa weighting/class ranking. (in at UMD CS direct admit, GMU Honors CS, VCU CS, and deferred at MIT) (Former FCPS, now VB)

They rejected 68 percent of the 41,000 oos applicants.

They rejected 88 percent of OOS residents…

No, they deferred 20 percent and rejected 68 percent.

Deferred engineering. In state, 3.98/4.5, 1560, NMSF. 3rd deferral. Cowards...just reject. However, he was a direct admit to UMD CS and honors college.

Similar as my DS above. Also NMSF and UMD CS but not honors. See you at UMD!

I was thrilled with the UMD acceptance (nice to be "wanted"). Its about $17k more a year than UVA. Not ridiculous amount. I know merit is limited, but it would be nice if we could get a little. Ohio State and Minnesota were generous. Received likely card from W&M. With the deferrals, we now have 7 RD. Best of luck!!

Do they mention Echols Scholars Program in the admissions letter for those that got it?

You'd choose UMD over W&M?

For Computer Science it's a real consideration. Of course now your talking $20k/yr more.
