is joel osteen a false preacher?

The man has unique and amazing public speaking talents, and has worked like a dog for decades. Do you think he memorizes his talks on one pass?

And “charlatan?” He’s not everybody’s cup of tea. He is not mainstream evangelical. But he is not absolutely outside the pale of Christianity either. He does not pretend that his ministry is all people needs. He tells them to find, attend and support a local church. And his personal money comes from books and speeches. It is one thing when people are caught up in a big emotional experience and write a big check or empty their wallet (back when people carried cash) into the collection. But a book purchase is bay a distance. People have time to think, check reviews, even skim pages if they go to a bookstore.

Precious little. No theology degree. Nepotism. Inherited his fathers church. “Favored.” Poor knowledge of theology. Makes ridiculous claims like if you become a Christian they’ll always open up a new register for you at the store and you’ll never have to stand in line again from an actual sermon that he gave. Using the term sermon rather loosely here obviously.

Ok, but op has never explained why she feels Osteen is biblical; or read these replies and commented on the facts.

Nobody is forcing anyone to like, listen, or to contribute to Joel Osteen.

If you haven't listened to any of his sermons, I urge you to watch him at least once. I think you might be pleasantly surprised. And if you still don't like him, it's your privilege to choose not to watch him any further.

Often pastors and preachers are good people who spend a lot of time helping others - whether religion related or not. However, because they are by definition tied to religion, they are also associated with encouraging people to believe religious teachings.

Do you comprehend the slightest thing about Christianity? “Helping others” is an external expression of interior belief. If that behavior “encourages people to believe religious teaching,” that would be both natural and a result of positive role modeling.
