I am ex-DC now living in CT and ALL (not some, but ALL) of the local high schools have unofficial student run pages with this. Participation is voluntary. Likewise, if you don't want to see them, don't follow the page in IG.

These pages are student led and participation is not mandatory. There is usually the disclaimer “not affiliated with xxx school” somewhere on the page.

So far Whitman, Churchill and Blair have the similar IG pages. I’m sure they are not the only MCPS schools that do…Gaithersburg had one last year, they’ll most likely have one this year so it’s not just the higher income MCPS schools either.

I do not think it is braggy. it is a good thing those kids posting their admission results. As parents having kids who will apply in future years, we find that information helpful

I do not think it is braggy. it is a good thing those kids posting their admission results. As parents having kids who will apply in future years, we find that information helpful

Besides, 90% of the kids posting aren’t going to highly selective schools. Let them be happy for a minute or two.

It’s really quite simple so even you can grasp it.

Public school parents both ritualistically complain about their more deserving children being denied admission and how the college admissions game is totally skewed against the average unhooked applicant and then with the same breath say that their public school admissions are better than Sidwell and all without hooks. All we want is for you to pick a position and stick to it. Frankly I think it’s true that public schools get plenty of kids into great colleges (although not all as unhooked as you’d like to believe), it’s the constant whining that is completely irritating.

Admissions are difficult everywhere and congrats to all the great kids that access to hese top colleges.

The complaint discussed is about starting DCUM threads to brag. Just drool over the Instagram posts like everyone else and move on instead of carrying on on dcum.

I'm affiliated with one of these schools, and I agree these are weird. They make me very uncomfortable.
